Man, today was a wild ride in Arenella. Like, seriously, I can’t even. Woke up late, as usual. My alarm? Yeah, it totally ghosted me. So, I’m sprinting down Via Arenella, dodging scooters and old ladies like it’s an Olympic sport. First stop? My fave café, Bar Pasticceria. Gotta get that cornetto, right? But guess what? They ran out! I mean, c’mon! It’s like going to a pizza place and they’re outta dough. So, I settle for a stale brioche. Ugh. Not the best start. Then, I’m walking down Via Nuova Arenella, and I see this street performer. Dude’s playing the accordion like he’s in a Tarantino movie. I’m vibin’ hard, but then this kid runs by and knocks over his hat. I’m like, “Bro, what’s your problem?” The performer just laughs it off, but I’m fuming. Like, how rude can you be? After that, I head to the park, Villa Comunale. It’s a beautiful day, sun shining, birds chirping. I’m thinking, “Finally, some peace.” But nope! There’s a bunch of kids playing soccer, and one of them kicks the ball right at me. I barely dodge it. I’m like, “Dude, watch it!” But they just laugh. Kids these days, right? So, I’m sitting on a bench, trying to chill. I pull out my sketchbook. Gonna draw the view of the sea. But then, this old man sits next to me and starts talking about the “good old days.” I’m trying to be polite, but I’m also thinking, “I just wanna draw, man!” He’s going on about how Arenella used to be a fishing village. I’m like, “Cool story, bro, but I’m not a history buff.” Finally, I decide to hit up the beach. I walk down to Lungomare, and wow, the view is insane. The sea is sparkling, and I’m feeling all the good vibes. But then, I step in some sticky stuff. I look down, and it’s gum. Like, seriously? Who does that? I’m ready to lose it. But then, I see this cute dog running around. It’s a golden retriever, and it’s just living its best life. I can’t help but smile. Dogs make everything better, right? I start petting it, and the owner comes over, all chill. We chat for a bit, and I forget about the gum. As the sun starts to set, I’m walking back through the streets. The colors are insane, like a painting. I pass by the old church on Via San Giovanni, and it hits me. This place is beautiful, even with all the chaos. I get home, totally exhausted but happy. I flop on my bed, thinking about the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. Arenella, you crazy little gem, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
