Man, what a day in Assemini! Like, seriously, I can’t even. Woke up thinking it’d be chill, ya know? But nah, life had other plans. So, I’m rollin’ outta bed, and the sun’s blazin’ through my window on Via Roma. I’m like, “Great, another scorcher.” Grabbed my coffee from that little bar on the corner. You know the one? The one with the best pastries. I swear, their cornetti are life. Anyway, I’m sippin’ my coffee, and boom! My buddy Marco texts me. He’s like, “Dude, let’s hit up the market at Piazza della Repubblica.” I’m like, “Sure, why not?” So I throw on some clothes and head out. The market was packed! Like, people everywhere. I’m dodging grannies with their shopping carts. Seriously, they’re like ninjas. One almost took me out! I’m just tryna get some fresh produce, but it’s chaos. Then I see this guy selling the biggest melons I’ve ever seen. I’m talkin’ like, “Are those even real?” I had to take a pic. Gotta show the fam back home. “Look at these monster melons!” 😂 But then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and some dude just knocked over a whole stand of tomatoes. It was like a scene from a movie. Red juice everywhere! I’m laughing, but the vendor? Not so much. He was fuming! After that, I needed a breather. So I stroll down Via Cagliari, just enjoying the vibe. The street’s lined with cute little shops. I pop into this vintage store. Found an old vinyl of some classic Italian tunes. Score! But then, I step outside, and it starts pouring. Like, outta nowhere! I’m soaked in seconds. I’m standing there, drenched, thinking, “Really, Assemini? Really?” I mean, I love the rain, but c’mon! So I duck into a café on Via Garibaldi. Grab a hot chocolate to warm up. The barista, this cool chick, starts chatting with me. She’s telling me about the local festivals. I’m like, “I gotta check that out!” Then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get crazier, I see a parade! Like, a legit parade! Turns out it was for some local saint or whatever. People were dancing, music blasting. I’m just standing there, soaking it all in. I even joined in! I mean, who wouldn’t? I’m twirling around, feeling like a total goofball. But hey, it’s Assemini! You gotta embrace the madness, right? After the parade, I’m feeling all hyped. I head back home, but not before stopping by that gelato place on Via Vittorio Emanuele. Got myself a scoop of pistachio. Best decision ever! Finally, I crash on my couch, exhausted but happy. I’m thinking about all the wild stuff that happened today. Assemini, you crazy little town, you never fail to surprise me. So yeah, that was my day. Full of melons, rain, and random parades. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
