Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a dispatcher in Avezzano is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I get to the office on Via Roma, and it’s already chaos. My phone’s blowin’ up. Like, seriously, I thought I was in a horror movie with all the ringing. “Dispatch, what’s your emergency?” I’m tryin’ to sound calm, but inside, I’m like a caffeinated squirrel. So, first call is from some dude on Via XX Settembre. He’s locked outta his car. I’m like, “Bro, did you check your pockets?” But no, he’s all panicky. I send a guy over, and while I’m on the line, I hear this loud crash. My heart drops. I’m thinkin’, “What now?” Turns out, it’s just a delivery truck that backed into a lamppost. Classic Avezzano, right? Then, I get another call. This time, it’s a lady on Corso della Libertà. She’s lost her cat. I mean, c’mon! I’m not a cat detective! But I can’t say that, so I’m like, “We’ll send someone.” Meanwhile, I’m picturing this fluffy little monster just chillin’ on a rooftop, laughin’ at us. Around noon, I finally grab a bite. I hit up this little place on Piazza della Repubblica. Best pizza ever! I’m munchin’ on a slice, thinkin’ life’s good. But then, my phone rings again. It’s a fire alarm at a school on Via dei Martiri. My stomach drops. Kids, man! I’m like, “Get the fire trucks there NOW!” I’m pacing, heart racing. I can’t even enjoy my pizza. I’m thinkin’ about all those kids. But then, I hear the sirens. Relief washes over me. They get there, and it’s just a false alarm. Phew! But I’m still mad. Like, who pulls a fire alarm for fun? After that, things calm down a bit. I’m finally catchin’ my breath when I get a call from a guy on Via Garibaldi. He’s stuck in traffic. I’m like, “Dude, welcome to Avezzano!” Traffic’s always a mess. I mean, it’s like a game of Tetris out there. Cars everywhere, honking like it’s a concert. Then, outta nowhere, I get a call about a street performer on Via della Repubblica. This guy’s juggling flaming torches! I’m like, “Is this a circus or what?” But hey, it’s Avezzano, so why not? I send someone to check it out. Gotta make sure he doesn’t set the place on fire, ya know? As the day drags on, I’m feelin’ like a zombie. I’ve had enough coffee to fuel a rocket. But then, I get a call from a couple on Via della Storia. They’re gettin’ married right there in the street! I’m like, “Aww, that’s sweet!” So, I send someone to help with traffic. Gotta let love shine, right? Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted but happy. I think about all the craziness. Avezzano, man. It’s wild. But it’s home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, I head home, ready to crash. But as I walk down Via Roma, I see that cat lady again. And guess what? She found her cat! It’s perched on a tree, lookin’ all smug. I can’t help but laugh. Just another day in Avezzano, right? I plop down on my couch, and I’m like, “What a ride.” Tomorrow’s another day. Who knows what’ll happen? But I’m ready for it. Bring it on, Avezzano!
