Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a tractor driver in Barano d’Ischia ain’t for the faint-hearted. Woke up this mornin’ thinkin’ it’d be just another chill day, ya know? But nah, life had other plans. First off, I hit the road on Via Maronti, cruisin’ along, feelin’ like a king. The sun was shinin’, the sea was glimmerin’ like a million bucks. I was hummin’ some old tune, probably somethin’ my Nonna used to sing. But then, BAM! Traffic jam right in front of me. Like, c’mon! It’s Barano, not New York City! So, I’m sittin’ there, fumin’. I see this guy on a scooter, zippin’ past like he’s in a race. I’m like, “Dude, where’s the fire?” But he just gives me a smirk. Ugh, I wanted to throw my coffee at him. But I didn’t. I’m a professional, right? Finally, I get movin’ again. I head down to the beach area, you know, near Spiaggia dei Maronti. It’s packed! Families, kids, everyone’s havin’ a blast. I’m thinkin’, “Man, I shoulda brought my swim trunks.” But then I remember, I’m here to work, not to sunbathe. So, I park my tractor near the beach, and guess what? I see this little kid buildin’ a sandcastle. It’s epic! I mean, this kid’s got moats, towers, the whole shebang. I’m like, “Wow, this kid’s gonna be the next Michelangelo or somethin’.” But then, outta nowhere, a seagull swoops down and wrecks the whole thing! I felt so bad for the kid. I wanted to give him a hug or somethin’. After that, I had to head up to Via Cava, where they were doin’ some road work. Oh boy, what a mess! I’m tryin’ to maneuver my tractor through all these cones and barriers. It’s like a freakin’ obstacle course! I’m swearin’ under my breath, thinkin’ I should’ve just stayed in bed. And then, I see this old lady, Nonna Rosa, tryin’ to cross the street. She’s got her cane, and she’s movin’ slower than molasses. I stop, of course. Gotta help the locals, right? But she looks at me and says, “You’re not gonna run me over, are ya?” I laughed so hard! I told her, “Nonna, I’d never!” Finally, I get to the job site. It’s a big ol’ field near the church, Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. I’m thinkin’, “Alright, time to get to work.” But then, my tractor starts actin’ up. The engine’s sputterin’ like it’s about to give up on life. I’m like, “No, no, no! Not today!” I’m under the hood, tryin’ to fix it, and guess who shows up? My buddy Marco. He’s laughin’ at me, sayin’, “You sure you know how to drive that thing?” I wanted to throw a wrench at him! But instead, we ended up crackin’ jokes about how I should just stick to drivin’ a bicycle. After a while, I finally get the tractor runnin’ again. Thank goodness! I’m back to work, plowin’ the field, and it feels good. The sun’s settin’, and the view is just beautiful. I can see the whole island from up there. It’s moments like this that make it all worth it. But then, just when I think it’s smooth sailin’, I hear a loud bang! What the heck? I look back, and I see I’ve run over a pile of rocks. Great. Just great. Now I gotta deal with that mess. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I drive back through Barano, and I can’t help but smile. It’s a crazy little town, full of life and surprises. I love it here, even when it drives me nuts. So, yeah, that was my day. Tractor drivin’ in Barano d’Ischia. Full of ups and downs, laughs and frustrations. But hey, that’s life, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
