Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Bernalda, right? This little gem in Basilicata, Italy. I mean, it’s cute and all, but today? Ugh. First off, I’m late for work. Classic me. I rush outta my apartment on Via Roma, and boom! I trip over my own feet. Like, how does that even happen? I’m just trying to get to the office, and I’m already a mess. So, I finally make it to the office on Piazza San Bernardino. It’s a small place, but we’re like a family. A dysfunctional one, but still. My coworker, Marco, is already there, sipping his espresso like he’s some kinda Italian god. I swear, he’s got a sixth sense for coffee. Anyway, I sit down, and my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “We need to talk about the project.” Oh great, just what I needed. I’m thinking, “What project? The one that’s been a disaster since day one?” So, I’m sweating bullets, right? I mean, I can feel the anxiety creeping in. I glance out the window at the beautiful view of the hills. It’s stunning, but I can’t enjoy it. Not today. Then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off! Like, seriously? In the middle of my panic? Everyone’s rushing out, and I’m just standing there like a deer in headlights. I finally snap out of it and join the crowd. We all pile out onto Via Cavour, and I’m thinking, “This is so typical.” Once we’re outside, I see this cute little dog. I mean, it’s adorable! I’m trying to pet it, but the owner’s like, “No, no!” Chill, dude! It’s just a dog! But whatever, I’m not gonna let that ruin my day. After the fire drill (which was a false alarm, of course), we head back in. My boss is waiting, and I’m like, “Great, just what I wanted.” He starts talking about deadlines, and I’m zoning out. I mean, can we talk about something more exciting? Like the gelato shop on Via Dante? Now that’s a topic I can get behind! Finally, lunch rolls around. Thank goodness! I grab a panino from this little place near the office. It’s got prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula. I’m in heaven! But then, I spill it all over my shirt. Classic. I look like a walking food disaster. After lunch, I decide to take a stroll. I hit up the old town, and wow, it’s beautiful. The narrow streets, the old buildings, the vibe. I love Bernalda! But then, I see a tourist group, and they’re all taking selfies in front of the castle. I’m like, “Dude, it’s just a castle.” But hey, to each their own, right? As I’m wandering, I bump into an old friend from high school. We start chatting, and it’s like no time has passed. We reminisce about the good ol’ days, and I’m feeling all nostalgic. But then, he mentions moving to Milan. I’m like, “No way! Don’t leave Bernalda!” The day drags on, and I’m exhausted. I finally head home, and I’m thinking about how crazy today was. I mean, from tripping to fire alarms to food spills, it’s been a rollercoaster. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Bernalda’s my home, with all its quirks and surprises. I flop onto my couch, ready to crash. Tomorrow’s another day, and who knows what’ll happen? But for now, I’m just gonna chill and dream about gelato. 🍦
