Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a telephone operator in Perugia is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First call comes in at 8 AM. It’s some dude from Via dei Priori, all frantic. He’s like, “My cat’s stuck in a tree!” I’m like, “Bro, it’s a cat, not a rocket scientist.” But I get it, I mean, cats are like little furry ninjas. So, I connect him to the fire department. They’re probably just gonna roll their eyes, but whatever. Then, I get another call. This lady from Corso Vannucci is losing her mind. She’s all, “I can’t find my purse!” I’m like, “Lady, did you check under your couch?” I mean, come on! But she’s panicking like it’s the end of the world. Turns out, she left it at the café. Classic. By noon, I’m already over it. I grab a quick bite at this little place on Via della Viola. Best pasta ever! Seriously, if you’re in Perugia, you gotta try it. I’m shoveling it in, and my phone rings again. It’s a guy from Piazza IV Novembre. He’s like, “I need directions to the train station!” I’m like, “Dude, just follow the signs!” But no, he wants me to give him a step-by-step. I’m like, “Okay, take a left, then a right, then another left. You’ll see it.” And then, BAM! The power goes out. Just like that. I’m sitting there in the dark, phone in hand, and I’m like, “Great, just great.” I can’t even call anyone! So, I’m sitting there, thinking about how I’m gonna explain this to my boss. “Sorry, I couldn’t take calls because the universe hates me.” Finally, the lights flicker back on. I’m back in business, but now I’m flooded with calls. It’s like everyone in Perugia decided to call me at once. I’m juggling calls like a circus clown. “Yes, I can help you with that! No, I can’t find your lost dog!” Around 3 PM, I get a call from this old lady on Via della Repubblica. She’s sweet, but she’s talking my ear off about her garden. I’m like, “Lady, I love daisies too, but I gotta go!” But she’s relentless. I swear, I learned more about gardening than I ever wanted to know. Then, outta nowhere, I get a call from a guy who’s like, “I’m stuck in a lift!” I’m like, “Dude, how did you even get in there?” He’s freaking out, and I’m trying to keep it together. I mean, it’s Perugia, not a horror movie! Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted, but I can’t help but laugh at the chaos. I mean, who knew being a telephone operator could be this wild? I step outside, and the sunset over the hills is just beautiful. I take a deep breath, and for a moment, everything feels right. So, yeah, that was my day in Perugia. Full of craziness, laughter, and a bit of frustration. But hey, that’s life, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
