Man, what a day! I swear, being a telephone operator in Bordighera is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m at the office on Via Roma, and it’s already buzzing. I mean, it’s like the whole city decided to call me at once. “Hey, can you connect me to my cousin in Sanremo?” “What’s the number for the bakery on Corso Italia?” Like, dude, just Google it! But no, they want me to do the heavy lifting. Then, outta nowhere, I get this call from a lady. She’s all frantic, right? “My cat’s stuck in a tree on Via Giuseppe Garibaldi!” I’m like, “Lady, I’m not a fireman!” But I can’t just leave her hanging. So, I’m trying to calm her down while also thinking, “How did we get here? A cat in a tree? Classic Bordighera.” And then, boom! The phone rings again. It’s a guy who’s lost his way to the beach. I mean, c’mon! It’s not rocket science! Just follow the smell of gelato! But I’m nice, so I give him directions. “Just head down to the Lungomare, you can’t miss it!” But wait, it gets better. I’m on a roll, feeling like a hero, when I hear this loud crash outside. I peek out the window on Via Vittorio Emanuele, and there’s a scooter on its side. Some dude is yelling at another dude. “You scratched my bike!” I’m thinking, “Welcome to Bordighera, where the scooters are faster than the drivers!” So, I’m juggling calls, and my brain’s like spaghetti. I’m trying to remember who needs what. “Did I connect that guy to the pizzeria on Via Aurelia?” Ugh! I can’t even! Then, I get this call from a tourist. “Where’s the best place to see the sunset?” I’m like, “Dude, just go to the beach! It’s Bordighera! You can’t mess that up!” But he’s all, “No, I want the secret spot.” I’m thinking, “What do I look like, a travel guide?” Finally, I get a breather. I step outside for a sec, and wow, the view! The Mediterranean is sparkling like a diamond. I take a deep breath, and for a moment, I’m like, “Okay, this is nice.” But then, my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “We need you to stay late.” Ugh, seriously? So, I’m back at it, and the calls just keep coming. A lady wants to know if the flowers at the Bordighera Botanical Gardens are blooming. I’m like, “Lady, it’s spring! Of course, they are!” And then, just when I think it can’t get crazier, I get a call from a guy who’s convinced he’s being followed. “I swear, there’s someone behind me on Via dei Colli!” I’m like, “Dude, it’s probably just a cat.” By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. My brain’s fried, and I just wanna go home. But as I walk down Via Roma, I see the sunset. It’s like the sky’s on fire, and for a second, all the chaos fades away. I think, “This is why I love Bordighera.” So yeah, that was my day. Full of drama, laughter, and a bit of madness. Just another day in Bordighera, I guess!
