Man, what a day! I swear, being a telephone operator in Capannori is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First call comes in at 8 AM. It’s this dude, totally frantic, yelling about his cat. I mean, c’mon, bro! I get it, cats are important, but I’m not a vet! He’s like, “My cat’s stuck in a tree on Via Roma!” I’m thinking, “Dude, it’s a cat, not a baby!” But I help him out anyway. I mean, Capannori’s got some tall trees, but c’mon, it’s not like it’s the Leaning Tower of Pisa or something. Then, I get another call. This lady’s lost her way to the market. I’m like, “Lady, it’s literally down the street!” But she’s all confused. I tell her, “Just follow the smell of fresh bread from Panificio Capannori.” You can’t miss it! Best bread in town, no joke. But then, oh man, the real chaos starts. I’m on a roll, right? Then, bam! Power goes out. Just like that. I’m sitting there in the dark, phone in hand, like, “What now?” I can’t even call anyone! I’m thinking, “Great, just great. I’m gonna be stuck here forever.” Finally, the lights flicker back on. I’m back in business, but now everyone’s calling about the power outage. “Yeah, I know, I’m in the same boat!” I wanna scream. But I keep it cool. Gotta keep my operator face on, ya know? Then, I get this call from a guy on Via delle Ville. He’s all like, “My wife’s mad at me!” I’m like, “Dude, that’s not a phone issue!” But he spills his whole life story. Apparently, he forgot their anniversary. Classic move, right? I’m just sitting there, rolling my eyes, thinking, “You should’ve just taken her to Ristorante Da Marco. They have the best lasagna!” And then, outta nowhere, I get a call from a tourist. They’re lost, obviously. I’m like, “Welcome to Capannori, where GPS goes to die!” I give them directions to the beautiful Villa Mazzarosa. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna see that? But they’re like, “What’s a villa?” I’m like, “Seriously? You’re in Italy!” By the time lunch rolls around, I’m starving. I grab a quick bite at my fave spot, Bar Centrale. Best espresso ever! But I’m still buzzing from all the calls. I can’t even enjoy my panini. Then, the afternoon hits. More calls, more chaos. A kid calls, crying about his bike. I’m like, “Kid, it’s just a bike!” But I get it, I had my first bike stolen too. It’s a rite of passage, right? And then, the cherry on top. A lady calls, and she’s like, “I need help with my Wi-Fi!” I’m like, “Lady, I’m not tech support!” But I try to help her anyway. Turns out, she just needed to plug it in. Classic! Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted, but I can’t help but laugh. Capannori, man. It’s a wild ride. I love this place, even with all the craziness. The streets, the people, the food—can’t beat it. So, I head home, thinking about all the calls. I’m just a telephone operator, but I feel like I’ve lived a thousand lives today. And tomorrow? Who knows what’s in store!
