Man, what a day! I swear, being a raftsman in Carbonia is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit the streets. I’m cruising down Via Roma, dodging tourists like they’re pigeons. Seriously, these folks don’t know how to walk! I almost tripped over a guy taking a selfie with the old mining tower. Like, dude, it’s just a tower! But whatever, I’m not here to judge. So, I get to the river, and it’s packed. I mean, packed! Families, kids, dogs—everyone’s out enjoying the sun. I’m thinking, “Great, more people to deal with.” But then, I see this little kid, maybe five or six, trying to catch fish with a stick. He’s so focused, it’s adorable. I can’t help but smile. Kids, man, they make everything better. Then, bam! Outta nowhere, this old dude starts yelling at me. “Hey, you! Raftsman! Get your boat ready!” I’m like, “Chill, grandpa! I’m on it!” But he’s not having it. Turns out, he’s got a group of tourists who think they’re gonna float down the river like it’s a lazy Sunday. I’m thinking, “You guys have no idea what you’re in for.” So, I get the raft ready, and let me tell ya, it’s a workout. I’m sweating like a sinner in church. Finally, we’re off! The river’s flowing, and I’m trying to keep it together while these tourists are screaming like they’re on a rollercoaster. “This is amazing!” “I’m gonna fall!” Yeah, buddy, that’s the point! We hit a few rapids near the bridge on Via Cagliari, and I’m laughing my ass off. One lady almost flies out, and I’m like, “Hold on, lady! It’s not a spa day!” But she’s loving it. I guess that’s the magic of Carbonia. You can’t help but feel alive here, even when you’re about to capsize. After the ride, I’m exhausted. I drop the tourists off, and they’re all high-fiving me like I’m some kind of hero. I’m just a dude with a raft, but hey, I’ll take it. I head over to the local café on Via Garibaldi for a quick espresso. I need that caffeine fix, ya know? But then, I see it. A street performer, juggling fire. I’m like, “What the heck? Is this a circus or what?” He’s got a crowd, and they’re all oohing and aahing. I’m thinking, “Dude, you’re gonna set yourself on fire!” But he’s nailing it. I can’t help but cheer him on. Then, outta nowhere, a pigeon decides my shoulder is the perfect landing spot. I freak out! I’m flailing my arms, and everyone’s laughing. Great, now I’m the clown of Carbonia. But whatever, I roll with it. I’m like, “Yeah, I meant to do that!” As the sun starts to set, I stroll down to the old mining area. It’s quiet, and I can feel the history. Carbonia was built on coal, man. It’s got this vibe, like the ghosts of miners are still hanging around. I sit on a bench, just soaking it all in. I think about my day. The chaos, the laughter, the surprises. It’s wild how one day can be a mix of everything. I’m grateful, ya know? Carbonia’s got its quirks, but it’s home. So, I head back, tired but happy. Tomorrow’s another day, and who knows what’ll happen? But for now, I’m just a raftsman, living my best life in this crazy little city.
