Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Carosino, right? This little gem in Puglia, Italy. I mean, it’s cute and all, but today? Ugh. First off, I’m a biochemist, so I’m used to dealing with complex stuff. But today? It was like a science experiment gone wrong. I’m talking explosions, but not the fun kind. Anyway, I’m strolling down Via Roma, coffee in hand, feeling all smart and stuff. Then BAM! My phone buzzes. It’s my lab partner, Marco. He’s like, “Dude, we need to talk. NOW.” I’m thinking, “Great, what now?” So I rush over to the lab on Via Garibaldi. I’m dodging tourists and their selfie sticks. Like, chill, people! It’s not that serious! Anyway, I get there, and Marco’s face is all pale. I’m like, “What happened? Did we lose the samples?” He’s like, “Worse! The fridge broke!” I’m like, “Are you kidding me?!” All our precious enzymes, gone! I could’ve cried. I mean, enzymes are like my babies. So, I’m fuming. I storm out, and I need a break. I head to the park, Parco della Rimembranza. It’s nice there, you know? Trees, birds, the whole vibe. I sit on a bench, trying to chill. But then, this kid runs by, kicks a soccer ball, and it hits me! I’m like, “Really, kid?!” But then I see the kid’s smile. He’s having the time of his life. And I’m like, “Okay, maybe I’m overreacting.” So I take a deep breath, and I’m like, “Life’s too short, right?” After that, I decide to grab some gelato. I mean, who can be mad with gelato? I hit up Gelateria Carosino. Best gelato ever! I get pistachio and stracciatella. Yum! I’m sitting there, enjoying my treat, when I overhear this couple arguing. The guy’s like, “You never listen!” And the girl’s like, “Well, you never talk!” I’m just sitting there, thinking, “Man, relationships are wild.” I mean, I’m single, so I guess I can laugh at it. Then, I get a text from my boss. “We need those results ASAP.” I’m like, “Seriously?!” I just had a meltdown over enzymes! But whatever, I head back to the lab. On the way, I pass by the old church, Chiesa Madre. It’s beautiful, but I’m too stressed to appreciate it. I’m just thinking about those enzymes. I get back to the lab, and Marco’s there, looking all sheepish. He’s like, “I fixed it!” I’m like, “What?!” Turns out, he rigged the fridge with some old parts. Genius! I’m so relieved. We get back to work, and I’m feeling pumped again. But then, the power goes out. I’m like, “No way!” We’re in the dark, and I’m freaking out. I can’t even see the samples! But then, I hear laughter outside. It’s the same kid from earlier, playing with his friends. I’m like, “Okay, this is ridiculous.” I can’t let a power outage ruin my day. So, I grab a flashlight, and we keep working. Finally, the power comes back, and we finish the experiment. I’m exhausted but happy. I walk home, thinking about how crazy today was. Carosino, you’ve got my heart, even with all the chaos. I flop on my bed, and I’m like, “What a ride.” Tomorrow’s another day, right? But for now, I’m just gonna crash.
