Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in my little flat on Via Roma, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to the market at Piazza Mazzini. You know, the one that’s always buzzing with life? I’m all set to grab some fresh produce. But guess what? The vendor I usually hit up is outta tomatoes! Like, how do you run outta tomatoes in Italy? I mean, c’mon! I’m standing there, fuming, thinking, “What am I supposed to make for dinner now?” Then, I spot this cute little café on the corner of Via Cavour. I’m like, “Okay, let’s grab a coffee and chill.” I order a cappuccino, and the barista, this dude with a wild beard, spills it all over the counter. I’m just standing there, mouth agape, like, “Dude, really?” He laughs it off, but I’m still like, “Great, now I need a new shirt.” After that, I decide to take a stroll down to the Po River. It’s beautiful there, you know? The sun glistening off the water, people walking their dogs, kids playing. I’m feeling a bit better, soaking in the vibes. But then, outta nowhere, this kid on a bike zooms past me and splashes mud all over my shoes! Ugh! I’m like, “Seriously, kid?!” So, I’m walking along the river, trying to shake off the mud and the anger. I see the old castle in the distance, Castello di Casale. It’s stunning, right? But I’m too annoyed to appreciate it. I’m just thinking about how I’m gonna clean my shoes. Then, I bump into my buddy Marco. He’s always got some crazy story. Today, he tells me he saw a raccoon rummaging through trash near Via San Giovanni. I’m like, “A raccoon? In Casale? What’s next, a bear?” We both crack up, and for a moment, I forget about my muddy shoes. But then, Marco mentions this new pizza place that just opened. I’m intrigued. I mean, who doesn’t love pizza? So, we head over to Pizzeria da Gino. The place is packed! I’m thinking, “This better be worth the wait.” We finally get a table, and I order the Margherita. When it arrives, it’s like a slice of heaven! I’m in pizza bliss, and all my earlier frustrations fade away. After stuffing my face, I decide to walk it off. I wander through the narrow streets, taking in the sights. The old buildings, the little shops, the vibe—it’s all so charming. I even stop by a gelato shop on Via Garibaldi. I mean, how can you resist gelato? I get a scoop of pistachio, and it’s like a party in my mouth. But then, as I’m enjoying my gelato, I hear this commotion. A street performer is juggling fire! I’m like, “Whoa, this is wild!” But then, he drops one of the torches, and it rolls right towards me! I jump back, nearly dropping my gelato. I’m laughing and freaking out at the same time. Finally, I make my way back home, exhausted but happy. I think about how Casale-Monferrato is full of surprises. One minute you’re mad about tomatoes, and the next you’re laughing at a fire juggler. It’s a rollercoaster, man. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, mud and pizza, laughter and surprises. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Casale-Monferrato, you crazy little city, you’ve got my heart!
