Man, what a day! I swear, being a tractor driver in Castelfranco-Veneto is like riding a rollercoaster, but without the safety bar. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I gotta drive my trusty ol’ tractor down Via Garibaldi. You know, the street that’s always packed with people? Yeah, that one. I’m cruisin’ along, and suddenly, this dude on a bike swerves right in front of me. Like, bro, you got a death wish or what? I slam the brakes, and my coffee goes flying. Great start, huh? So, I finally get to the field near the Castelfranco walls. You know, those ancient walls that make you feel like you’re in a medieval movie? Yeah, those. I’m thinkin’ I’ll just plow a bit, listen to some tunes, and enjoy the view. But nope! The tractor won’t start. Just my luck, right? I’m sittin’ there, cursing like a sailor, and I can hear the kids playing nearby. They’re laughing, having a blast, and I’m like, “Why can’t I be a kid again?” After what felt like an eternity, I finally get the beast to roar to life. I’m back in business! But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I mean, it’s like the sky opened up and dumped a bucket of water on me. I’m soaked, tractor’s muddy, and I’m just tryin’ to keep my sanity. Then, I see this old lady, Nonna Maria, walking down Via Roma. She’s got her shopping bags, and she’s struggling. I’m like, “Hey, Nonna! Need a lift?” She looks at me like I’m crazy, but then she hops on. We’re cruisin’ down the street, and she’s telling me stories about Castelfranco from back in the day. I’m laughing, and for a moment, I forget about the rain and the mud. But then, bam! Traffic jam! I’m stuck behind some fancy car, and the driver’s just sittin’ there, probably on his phone. I’m honking, waving my arms like a maniac. “C’mon, dude! Move it!” But he’s just chillin’. I’m fuming. Like, who does that? Finally, I get past him and head towards the center. The piazza is packed. There’s a market going on, and the smell of fresh bread hits me. I’m starving! I park the tractor and run over to the stall. I grab a focaccia, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. Seriously, if you haven’t had one from Castelfranco, you’re missing out. After my little food break, I’m feelin’ good again. I head back to the tractor, and guess what? It won’t start again! I’m about to lose it. I’m kicking the tires, yelling at it like it’s a living thing. “Why, oh why, can’t you just work?” But then, out of nowhere, a bunch of kids come over. They’re like, “Mister, can we help?” And I’m like, “Sure, why not?” So, we’re all gathered around, and they’re giving me tips like they’re tractor mechanics or something. It’s hilarious! Eventually, we get it going again. I’m back on the road, and I’m just laughing at the craziness of the day. I drive past the beautiful Castelfranco castle, and I can’t help but feel grateful. This place, with all its quirks and charm, it’s home. So, yeah, my day was a wild ride. From almost crashing into a bike, to soaking wet, to sharing laughs with kids, Castelfranco-Veneto never fails to surprise me. I love this town, even when it drives me nuts. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
