Man, what a day! I swear, being a prison warden in Castellammare-del-Golfo is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Yeah, right. First off, I hit up Via Garibaldi for my morning coffee. You know, the good stuff. The barista, Marco, he’s always got a joke or two. But today? Dude spills my cappuccino all over the counter! I’m like, “C’mon, man! I need that caffeine!” But he just laughs it off. I mean, I get it, it’s a small town vibe, but I’m not here for a comedy show, ya know? Then I head to the prison. The drive along the coast is beautiful, though. The sea’s glistening, and I can see the mountains in the distance. But as soon as I step inside the prison, it’s like stepping into a different world. The mood shifts. You can feel the tension. So, I’m doing my rounds, right? And I hear some commotion in the yard. I rush over, and there’s this guy, Antonio, trying to start a fight over a stupid game of cards. I’m like, “Dude, chill! It’s just a game!” But no, he’s all fired up. I had to break it up, and let me tell ya, it’s not easy being the peacekeeper when you’re also the warden. After that, I’m just trying to keep my cool. I head to the cafeteria, and guess what? They’re serving pasta alla Norma. My favorite! But the inmates? They’re complaining about the sauce being too salty. I’m like, “You’re in prison, not a five-star restaurant!” But hey, I get it. Food’s a big deal, even behind bars. Later, I get a call from the mayor. He’s all worked up about some protest happening on Via P. D’Aguirre. Apparently, some folks are upset about the new prison expansion. I mean, I get it, but c’mon! It’s not like I’m building a theme park! I’m just trying to keep things in order. Then, outta nowhere, I get a surprise visit from my old buddy, Luca. He’s a cop, and he’s got this wild story about a chase through the streets of Castellammare. He’s all animated, waving his hands around, and I’m just trying to keep a straight face. “You should’ve seen it, man! I was like a movie star!” Yeah, right. More like a clown. By the time I’m done with my shift, I’m exhausted. I head back to Via Garibaldi for some gelato. I need to cool off, ya know? I grab a cone of pistachio, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, I see a couple of kids playing soccer in the square, and they kick the ball right into my gelato! I’m like, “Seriously?!” But they just laugh and run off. Kids, man. Finally, I get home, and I’m just done. I plop on the couch, thinking about the day. Castellammare-del-Golfo is beautiful, but it’s got its quirks. The streets, the people, the chaos. It’s all part of the charm, I guess. So yeah, that was my day. Full of surprises, laughter, and a whole lotta craziness. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
