Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an auctioneer in Ceggia is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m zooming down Via Roma, and I hit a pothole. Like, seriously? Ceggia, fix your roads! My coffee nearly flew outta my hand. I’m already cranky. But whatever, I get to the auction house, and it’s packed. I mean, people everywhere! Old folks, young bucks, even a couple of kids running around like they own the place. So, I start my spiel, right? “Ladies and gents, welcome to the Ceggia auction!” I’m all pumped, but then I see this dude in the back. He’s got this ridiculous hat on. Like, who wears a fedora in 2023? I can’t help but crack a joke. “Hey buddy, is that hat for sale too?” The crowd laughs, and I’m feelin’ good. But then, bam! The first item up is this ancient vase. I mean, it’s older than my grandma! I’m hyped, but then this lady in the front row starts yelling. “That’s a fake! I saw it on the internet!” I’m like, “Lady, chill! This is Ceggia, not a reality show!” But she keeps going. I’m sweating bullets. Finally, I get the crowd back. We’re bidding, and it’s intense. I’m shouting, “Going once, going twice!” And just when I think I’m gonna sell it for a fortune, the hat guy jumps in. “I’ll give you a pizza for it!” A pizza? Really? I’m about to lose it. But the crowd loves it. They’re laughing, and I’m just rollin’ with it. After that, we move on to some local art. Ceggia’s got some talented folks, let me tell ya. This one piece is a painting of the old church on Piazza della Libertà. It’s stunning! I’m hyped, and the bids start flying. But then, guess who shows up? The lady from before! She’s waving her arms like she’s conducting an orchestra. “That’s my cousin’s work!” I’m like, “Lady, you’re not even bidding!” But hey, the crowd’s eating it up. I’m just trying to keep my cool. I mean, Ceggia’s a small town, and everyone knows everyone. It’s like a soap opera sometimes. Then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. I’m standing there in the dark, and I hear someone shout, “Is this part of the show?” I can’t help but laugh. “Welcome to the Ceggia auction, folks! Now with extra drama!” Finally, the lights flicker back on, and we wrap up the auction. I’m exhausted but happy. I made some good sales, and the crowd was wild. As I’m packing up, I see the hat guy again. He’s holding a pizza. “You want a slice?” I’m like, “Nah, I’m good, but thanks for the offer!” So, I head out, walking down Via Garibaldi, and I can’t help but smile. Ceggia’s got its quirks, but it’s home. I love this place, even with its potholes and crazy auction days. Can’t wait for the next one!
