Man, what a day! Seriously, Dorgali, you’ve outdone yourself. I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day in this little gem of a town. But nah, Dorgali had other plans. First off, I hit up Via Roma for my morning espresso. You know, the good stuff. The barista, Marco, he’s a legend. He knows my order by heart. I walk in, and he’s like, “Hey, Padre! Same as always?” I’m like, “You know it!” But then, he spills half of it on the counter. I’m like, “Dude, c’mon!” But we both laughed it off. That’s Dorgali for ya—everyone knows each other, and it’s all good vibes. So, I’m sipping my coffee, and I decide to take a stroll down Via Garibaldi. The sun’s shining, and the streets are buzzing. I pass by the old church, Chiesa di Santa Caterina. It’s beautiful, man. The way the light hits those ancient stones? Just wow. But then, I see this group of tourists. They’re taking selfies, blocking the entrance. I’m like, “Really? You couldn’t pick a less sacred spot?” But whatever, I just chuckle and move on. Next, I head to the market at Piazza del Popolo. Oh boy, the chaos! Fresh fruits, veggies, and the smell of local cheeses. I’m in heaven. I grab some pecorino, and this old lady, Nonna Rosa, she’s haggling like a pro. I swear, she could sell ice to an Eskimo. She sees me and says, “You need to learn how to bargain, young man!” I’m like, “I’m a clergyman, not a merchant!” But I love her spirit. Then, outta nowhere, I get a call. It’s my buddy Luca. He’s in a jam. His car broke down near Cala Gonone. I’m like, “Dude, you’re miles away!” But he’s panicking, so I hop in my old Fiat and zoom off. The drive is beautiful, though. The coastline, the cliffs, the turquoise water—it’s breathtaking. But I’m also thinking, “Why do I always get dragged into these messes?” I finally get to him, and his car looks like it’s seen better days. I’m trying to help, but honestly, I have no clue about engines. I’m more of a “fixing souls” kinda guy, ya know? We end up calling a tow truck, and while we wait, we grab gelato. Best decision ever! I get pistachio, and he goes for stracciatella. We’re sitting there, laughing, and I forget all about the stress. But then, the tow truck takes forever! I’m like, “C’mon, man! I’ve got a sermon to prep!” Finally, it arrives, and the driver is this grumpy dude. He’s like, “You guys are lucky I’m even here.” I’m thinking, “Wow, thanks for the warm welcome!” But whatever, we get the car loaded, and I’m back on the road. On the way back, I decide to take a detour through the hills. The views are insane! I pull over at a lookout point, and it hits me—this place is magic. The mountains, the sea, the little houses scattered everywhere. I take a deep breath and just soak it all in. But then, I get a text. It’s from the church. Apparently, there’s a last-minute wedding. I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” I rush back, and when I get there, the bride is freaking out. Her dress is all wrinkled, and she’s crying. I’m like, “Girl, it’s gonna be fine!” But inside, I’m like, “Why do I always end up in these situations?” The ceremony goes off without a hitch, thank goodness. I even crack a joke about how love is like a good gelato—sweet, but sometimes it melts. The crowd laughs, and I feel a bit better. Finally, I wrap up the day, exhausted but happy. Dorgali, you crazy little town, you’ve given me a rollercoaster of a day. I love it here, even when it drives me nuts. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
