Man, what a day! I swear, Fermo really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I roll into town early, right? I’m pumped to install some radio gear at this new café on Corso Cefalonia. You know, the one with the killer espresso? Yeah, that place. First off, I get there, and the owner, Marco, is all over the place. He’s like, “Hey, can you set up the sound system? But also, can you fix the Wi-Fi? Oh, and the lights are flickering too!” Dude, chill! I’m just one guy! But whatever, I’m here for it. So, I start unpacking my gear, and guess what? I realize I forgot my favorite screwdriver. Ugh! Classic me, right? I’m like, “Great, just great.” I run down Via Mazzini, dodging tourists and their selfie sticks. Seriously, who needs that many pics in front of the Duomo? Finally, I find a hardware store. The guy there, old Signor Rossi, is super grumpy. He’s like, “You need what?!” I’m like, “A screwdriver, man! Not a rocket!” He rolls his eyes but helps me out. I grab the tool and head back, feeling like a champ. Back at the café, I’m finally in the zone. I’m setting up the speakers, and the sound is crisp. I’m jamming to some tunes, feeling the vibe. Then, outta nowhere, the power goes out! Like, seriously? I’m standing there, half a speaker in my hand, and the whole place is pitch black. Marco’s freaking out. “What’s happening?!” I’m like, “Dude, I’m not an electrician!” But I grab my phone, and I’m Googling like a madman. Turns out, it’s just a blown fuse. I run down to Via Garibaldi to find a replacement. On the way, I pass this cute little gelato shop. I can’t resist. I grab a scoop of pistachio. Best decision ever! I’m licking my cone, feeling like life’s good again. But then, I trip over a cobblestone. Classic Fermo, right? Beautiful but treacherous! Finally, I get back, fix the fuse, and boom! The lights come back on. Everyone cheers! I’m feeling like a rockstar. But then, I notice the speakers are still crackling. Ugh! I’m about to lose it. I take a deep breath. “Okay, let’s troubleshoot.” I start checking connections, and guess what? I find a loose wire. I’m like, “Seriously?!” I fix it, and the sound is perfect. By now, it’s late afternoon. The café is packed. People are vibing, sipping their espressos, and I’m just standing there, soaking it all in. Fermo’s charm is unreal. The old buildings, the narrow streets, the laughter. It’s like a scene from a movie. But then, I see a couple arguing outside. They’re yelling in Italian, and I’m just standing there, eavesdropping like a nosy neighbor. It’s hilarious! I mean, who fights in public like that? I can’t help but chuckle. As the sun sets, the sky turns this beautiful orange. I’m wrapping up, feeling accomplished. Marco comes over, “You did great, man!” I’m like, “Thanks, bro! Just another day in Fermo, right?” I pack up my stuff, and as I’m leaving, I can’t help but smile. Fermo, you wild city! You’ve got your quirks, but I love ya. Can’t wait to come back and do it all over again. Just maybe with a better plan next time!
