Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Fiumicino really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I roll into work at the bar, right? It’s a cozy little spot on Via della Torre Clementina, just a stone’s throw from the water. The sun’s shining, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m behind the bar, mixin’ up some spritzes, when this group of tourists strolls in. They’re all loud and excited, takin’ selfies like they’re at the Colosseum or somethin’. I mean, c’mon, it’s just a bar! But whatever, I’m here for it. I whip up a round of drinks, and they’re lovin’ it. I’m feelin’ like a rockstar, ya know? Then, outta nowhere, this dude trips over his own feet. Like, how do you even do that? He spills his drink all over the floor, and I’m like, “Great, now I gotta clean that up.” But then, he starts laughin’ and says, “At least it wasn’t my gelato!” I can’t help but crack up. Classic Fiumicino moment, right? But then, things take a turn. This lady walks in, and she’s clearly had a rough day. She orders a Negroni, but she’s shakin’ like a leaf. I’m thinkin’, “Girl, you need a hug, not a drink.” So, I pour her one, and she starts spillin’ her life story. Turns out, she missed her flight to Paris. I mean, who wouldn’t be upset? But she’s got this fire in her eyes, and I’m like, “You’ll get there, trust me.” While I’m tryin’ to cheer her up, my buddy Marco, who works the kitchen, bursts in. He’s all flustered, sayin’ the fish delivery didn’t show up. I’m like, “Dude, it’s Fiumicino! We’re by the sea! How do you run outta fish?” He just shrugs, and I can’t help but laugh. Only in this town, man. So, I’m juggling drinks, listenin’ to the lady, and tryin’ to keep Marco from losing it. And then, the power goes out. Just like that. The whole bar goes dark. I’m thinkin’, “Great, now we’re in a horror movie.” But then, the tourists start singin’ “Volare” to lighten the mood. I’m like, “Okay, this is kinda cute.” Finally, the lights flicker back on, and I’m ready to pour a round of shots. But guess what? The lady’s gone! She left a note on the bar sayin’ she’s off to catch a train to Rome. I’m like, “Wait, what? You’re just gonna leave?” But I get it. Sometimes you gotta chase your dreams, even if it means leavin’ a good drink behind. As the night rolls on, I’m still buzzin’ from all the craziness. I step outside for a breather, and the sea breeze hits me. It’s a beautiful night in Fiumicino. The stars are out, and I can hear the waves crashin’. I think about how this little town, with its narrow streets and cozy vibe, always surprises me. I head back inside, and the bar’s still rockin’. I pour a few more drinks, and the laughter fills the air. I’m reminded that even on the craziest days, there’s always a silver lining. Fiumicino, you wild little gem, you never fail to keep me on my toes. So yeah, that was my day. Full of spills, thrills, and a whole lotta heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
