Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a glazier in Ischia is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I grab my tools and head out. I’m walkin’ down Via Roma, and it’s packed. Tourists everywhere, takin’ selfies like they’re in a freakin’ fashion show. I mean, c’mon, it’s just a street! But whatever, I’m not here to judge. I’m just tryin’ to get to my first job at this fancy villa near the Castello Aragonese. You know, the one that looks like it’s straight outta a postcard? Yeah, that one. So, I get there, and the client is all stressed out. “The window’s broken! Fix it now!” she says. I’m like, “Lady, I’m not a magician.” But I roll up my sleeves anyway. I start takin’ out the old glass, and guess what? It’s stuck. Like, really stuck. I’m yankin’ and pullin’, and I’m gettin’ mad. I mean, who uses super glue on a window? Seriously! Finally, I get it out, and I’m feelin’ like a champ. But then, bam! I drop the new glass. It shatters everywhere. I’m standin’ there, lookin’ like a fool. The client gasps, and I’m like, “Yeah, that’s just my dramatic flair.” She didn’t laugh. Ugh. After that disaster, I decide to take a break. I stroll down to the beach at Spiaggia dei Maronti. Man, the view is killer! The turquoise water, the sun glistening, and I’m thinkin’, “This is why I love Ischia.” I grab a gelato—pistachio, of course—and just chill for a sec. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my gelato! I’m like, “Hey! That’s my lunch!” But the bird’s gone, and I’m left with nothing but a sad cone. Back to work, I head over to Forio. I got a job at this cute little café, La Bella Napoli. The owner, Marco, is a character. He’s always crackin’ jokes. “You break it, you buy it!” he yells as I walk in. I’m like, “Dude, I’m here to fix, not break!” But he’s cool. We chat about the local football team, Ischia Isolaverde. They’re doin’ pretty good this season, and I’m hopin’ they’ll win the next match. So, I’m workin’ on this window, and I hear a commotion outside. I peek out, and there’s a parade! Like, a legit parade with floats and everything. Turns out, it’s some local festival. I’m thinkin’, “Great, now I’m stuck here.” But then, I see the dancers in their colorful costumes, and I can’t help but smile. Ischia knows how to throw a party, man! Finally, I finish up at the café, and I’m exhausted. I’m walkin’ back home through the narrow streets of Ischia Porto, and I can’t help but feel grateful. Yeah, today was a mess, but it was my mess. I love this place, the chaos, the beauty, the people. As I get home, I plop down on my couch, and I’m like, “What a day!” I can’t wait to tell my buddies about the gelato thief and the parade. Ischia, you crazy little island, you never fail to surprise me. Here’s to more wild days ahead!
