Man, what a day! I swear, being a Cargo Transportation Manager in Isola-di-Capo-Rizzuto is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit the road on Via Roma. Traffic was a nightmare. I mean, come on! It’s a Tuesday, not a freakin’ Saturday! I’m stuck behind this old Fiat that’s going 20 in a 50 zone. Like, dude, do you have a death wish? I’m honking, waving my hands like a madman. Finally, I zoom past, and guess what? It’s some old guy, probably on his way to buy bread at the local panificio. I felt bad, but c’mon! So, I get to the depot on Via delle Vigne, and it’s chaos. Trucks everywhere, drivers yelling, and I’m just trying to find my sanity. I check my schedule, and of course, the shipment to the port is delayed. Great. Just what I needed. I’m pacing around, thinking about how I’m gonna explain this to the boss. He’s not exactly the patient type. Then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s Marco, my buddy from the docks. He’s like, “Yo, you won’t believe this! A seagull just stole my sandwich!” I’m cracking up. I mean, who gets robbed by a bird? Only in Isola-di-Capo-Rizzuto, right? I tell him to watch out for the “seagull mafia.” After that, I finally get a truck loaded up. We’re heading to the port, and I’m feeling a bit better. But then, bam! A flat tire on Via delle Conchiglie. Seriously? I’m cursing like a sailor. I pull over, and it’s hot as hell. I’m sweating bullets, trying to change this tire. And of course, I forgot my water bottle. Classic me. While I’m wrestling with the tire, I see this group of kids playing soccer nearby. They’re having a blast, laughing, kicking the ball around. I’m like, “Man, I wish I could just join them.” But nope, I’m stuck here with a flat. Life’s unfair sometimes, ya know? Finally, I get the tire changed. I’m back on the road, and I’m thinking, “Okay, maybe I can salvage this day.” I pull into the port, and it’s beautiful. The sea is sparkling, and I can see the boats bobbing up and down. But then, I realize I forgot the paperwork. Are you kidding me? I’m about to lose it. I race back to the office on Via dei Pescatori. I’m sweating, my heart’s racing. I grab the papers, and on my way back, I bump into Mrs. Rossi, the sweetest old lady in town. She’s like, “You look like you’ve seen a ghost!” I laugh and tell her about my day. She just shakes her head and says, “You need to slow down, dear.” If only she knew! Back at the port, I finally get everything sorted. The shipment’s on its way, and I can breathe again. I’m feeling proud, like I conquered the world. But then, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and it’s a container tipping over! My heart drops. I rush over, and thankfully, no one’s hurt. Just a mess of boxes everywhere. I can’t believe it. I’m laughing and crying at the same time. What a day! I help clean up, and by the time we’re done, I’m covered in dirt and sweat. But hey, that’s just another day in Isola-di-Capo-Rizzuto, right? As I drive home, I can’t help but smile. Sure, it was a rollercoaster, but it’s my rollercoaster. I love this crazy little town. The people, the streets, the unexpected moments. It’s all part of the ride. And tomorrow? Who knows what’ll happen!
