Man, what a day! I swear, if I had a euro for every crazy thing that happened in Lerici today, I’d be rich. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m in this cute little apartment on Via Cavour. Seriously, it’s like a postcard. But then, I step outside, and bam! The smell of fresh focaccia hits me. I’m like, “Yes, please!” So, I grab a slice from this tiny bakery on the corner. Best decision ever. I’m munching away, feeling like a king, when I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and there’s this guy on a scooter, totally wiped out. I mean, he’s okay, but his pride? Not so much. He’s trying to get up, but his helmet’s stuck. I can’t help but laugh. Like, dude, you’re in Lerici, not a stunt show! Anyway, I head down to the beach. The view? OMG. The Gulf of Poets is stunning. I’m standing there, soaking it all in, when I see this group of tourists. They’re trying to take a selfie, but they can’t figure out how to use their phone. I’m like, “C’mon, it’s 2023!” So, I offer to help. They’re super grateful, and I’m feeling like a hero. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my focaccia! I’m standing there, mouth agape, like, “Did that just happen?” The tourists are cracking up. I’m mad, but also kinda impressed. That bird’s got skills! After that, I decide to check out the Castello di Lerici. It’s this old castle on a hill, and the view from up there? Wow. I’m snapping pics, feeling all artsy, when I overhear this couple arguing. Like, full-on shouting. I’m thinking, “Dude, you’re in a castle, chill out!” But nope, they’re going at it. I mean, who fights in a castle? So, I’m trying to enjoy the view, but their drama is distracting. I’m like, “Can’t a guy enjoy some medieval vibes in peace?” Finally, they storm off, and I’m left with the view. Thank goodness! Next, I wander down to the marina. Boats everywhere! I love it. I’m daydreaming about sailing away when I bump into this old man. He’s got this wild beard and a twinkle in his eye. He starts telling me stories about Lerici. Apparently, it was a hangout for poets and writers. I’m like, “Wow, I’m basically in literary heaven!” But then, he starts talking about ghosts. Ghosts! In Lerici! I’m trying to keep a straight face, but inside, I’m like, “This is gold!” He’s going on about how the castle is haunted. I’m half-expecting a ghost to pop out and say, “Boo!” As the sun starts to set, I’m feeling all kinds of emotions. Happy, sad, confused. I mean, this day was a rollercoaster. I grab a gelato from this little shop on Via Roma. It’s pistachio, my fave. I sit on a bench, watching the sunset over the water. It’s beautiful. But then, I see that same seagull again. It’s eyeing my gelato. I’m like, “Not today, bird!” I guard my treat like it’s gold. I can’t let it happen again! Finally, I head back to my place, exhausted but happy. Lerici, you’ve been a wild ride. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. But for now, I’m just gonna crash. What a day!
