Man, what a day! I swear, Maerne is wild. Like, I thought I was just gonna ring up some groceries and call it a day. Nope! Not in this city. So, I roll into work at the supermarket on Via Roma, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Yeah, right. First customer? This lady, all decked out in her fancy clothes, comes in with a cart full of stuff. I mean, who needs 10 jars of pesto? Like, seriously? She’s all huffy about the prices. “Why is this so expensive?” she yells. I’m like, “Lady, it’s Maerne. Everything’s pricey here.” But she just keeps going. I’m trying to keep my cool, but inside, I’m like, “Chill, it’s just pesto!” Then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. Just poof! Dark. I’m standing there, holding a can of beans like it’s a torch. Customers start freaking out. I’m like, “Guys, it’s just a blackout. We’ll be fine.” But they’re all looking at me like I’m the captain of a sinking ship. Finally, the lights flicker back on. Thank goodness! But then, I see this dude on Via Garibaldi, just outside the store, juggling oranges. Like, who juggles oranges in the middle of the street? I can’t help but laugh. I mean, it’s Maerne, so why not? After that, things calm down a bit. I’m ringing up a couple of regulars. They’re cool, always got a joke or two. One guy, Marco, tells me he’s gonna start a band called “The Pesto Pirates.” I’m dying! I’m like, “Dude, that’s genius!” But then, this kid runs in, all panicked. He’s like, “My dog’s stuck in the car!” I’m thinking, “Oh no, not today!” So, I grab my manager, and we rush outside. The poor pup is in there, panting like crazy. We get the door open, and the dog jumps out like it just won the lottery. Everyone’s cheering. I’m like, “This is the highlight of my day!” But wait, it gets crazier. A couple of tourists come in, lost as can be. They’re looking for the best gelato in Maerne. I’m like, “Dude, just hit up Gelateria Da Marco on Via della Libertà. Best stuff ever!” They’re so grateful, it’s like I just gave them the secret to life or something. By the end of my shift, I’m exhausted. I’m counting the register, and I can’t help but think about how wild Maerne is. One minute, I’m dealing with a fancy lady, and the next, I’m saving a dog. It’s like a soap opera, but with more pesto and less drama. As I walk home, I pass by the old fountain on Piazza della Repubblica. It’s all lit up, and I just stop for a sec. I think about how crazy today was. I mean, who knew being a cashier could be this intense? So yeah, Maerne, you’ve got my heart. Even if you drive me nuts sometimes, I wouldn’t trade this job for anything. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
