Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a gardener in Matelica is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head down Via Roma. Love that street, but today? Ugh. There’s this dude blasting music from his car. Like, bro, it’s 8 AM! I’m just tryna enjoy my morning coffee, not a rave. I mean, c’mon, it’s Matelica, not Ibiza! Anyway, I get to the garden I’m workin’ on. It’s this cute little spot near the Piazza della Repubblica. You know, the one with the fountain? Yeah, that one. I’m all set to plant some new flowers. I got my hands dirty, feelin’ good, right? Then, outta nowhere, this old lady starts yellin’ at me. Turns out, she thought I was messin’ with her prized roses. Lady, I’m a gardener, not a rose thief! So, I’m tryin’ to explain, but she’s not havin’ it. I’m like, “Ma’am, I’m just here to make things pretty!” But she’s givin’ me the stink eye like I just kicked her cat. I mean, c’mon! I love cats! After that drama, I decide to take a break. I stroll down to Via Garibaldi. There’s this little café I love. Best cappuccino in town, no joke. I grab one, sit outside, and just breathe. But then, guess what? A pigeon decides my head is a good landing spot. Seriously?! I’m like, “Dude, not cool!” So, I’m sittin’ there, covered in pigeon poop, and I can’t help but laugh. Like, what’s next? A squirrel stealing my sandwich? Finally, I head back to the garden. I’m diggin’ and plantin’, and it’s goin’ well. I’m feelin’ the vibe, ya know? Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs up to me. He’s like, “Mister, can I help?” I’m thinkin’, “Sure, why not?” So, we start plantin’ together. He’s got this wild imagination, talkin’ about how the flowers are gonna be superheroes. I’m like, “Yeah, man! Let’s save the world with daisies!” That kid made my day. Seriously, I was all grumpy, and then he just flipped the script. Kids have that magic, right? But then, as I’m packin’ up, I realize I left my tools at the café. Ugh! I sprint back to Via Garibaldi, heart racin’. I’m thinkin’, “Please, please, please let them be there!” And guess what? They are! Phew! So, I’m walkin’ back home, exhausted but happy. Matelica’s got this charm, ya know? The cobblestone streets, the old buildings, the way the sun sets over the hills. It’s like a painting. But then, I trip on a stone. Classic! I’m sprawled out on the ground, laughin’ at myself. “Nice one, genius!” I get up, dust myself off, and keep walkin’. By the time I get home, I’m beat. But I can’t help but smile. Matelica, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. Even with the pigeons and the grumpy old ladies. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
