Wow, what a day! Seriously, Melendugno, you’ve got me all kinds of twisted. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m hustling down Via Roma, trying to grab a coffee at my fave spot, Bar Centrale. You know, the one with the best cornetti? But of course, there’s a line. A freakin’ line! Like, who knew everyone needed caffeine at 8 AM? I’m standing there, tapping my foot, thinking about how I should’ve just made my own coffee. Ugh. Finally, I get my coffee, and it’s like liquid gold. I take a sip, and boom! My day’s looking up. But then, I step outside, and it’s chaos. Cars everywhere on Via G. Marconi, honking like they’re in a race. I swear, I almost got run over by a Vespa. Those things are like mosquitoes on wheels! So, I’m dodging traffic, and I get to the office. The usual grind, right? But today, my boss decides to drop a bomb. “We need to organize the annual festival.” Oh great, just what I wanted. I mean, I love the Sagra della Focaccia, but the stress? Not so much. I’m sitting there, trying to brainstorm ideas, and my mind’s racing. I mean, how do you make a festival fun? I’m thinking, “Let’s have a pizza-eating contest!” But then I remember last year’s disaster. People were literally rolling on the ground, moaning. Not the best look for Melendugno, ya know? Then, during lunch, I decide to take a stroll down to the beach. I mean, it’s only a few minutes from the office, right? I hit up Spiaggia di Torre dell’Orso. The water’s gorgeous, and I’m feeling all zen. But then, I see this group of tourists. They’re trying to take a selfie, and one dude drops his phone in the water. I’m like, “Dude, that’s a one-way ticket to heartbreak.” I can’t help but laugh, though. I mean, who hasn’t had a clumsy moment? But then, I get a text from my friend. “Hey, let’s meet at Piazza della Libertà!” I’m like, “Sure, why not?” So, I rush back, dodging more Vespas. Seriously, they’re everywhere! At the piazza, it’s packed. Street performers, food stalls, and the smell of fresh focaccia in the air. I’m in heaven! But then, I see my friend, and she’s fuming. Turns out, she just got into a fight with her boyfriend. I’m like, “Girl, let’s get some gelato and forget about it!” We grab some gelato from that little shop on Via G. Marconi. I go for pistachio, she goes for stracciatella. We sit on the steps, and I’m trying to cheer her up. “You know what? Life’s too short for bad vibes!” But she’s not having it. Then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, seriously? I’m drenched in seconds. We run for cover, laughing like maniacs. I mean, who cares about getting wet when you’re in Melendugno, right? After the rain, the sky clears up, and the sunset is stunning. I’m standing there, soaking it all in, and I think, “This is what life’s about.” Sure, the day was a rollercoaster, but it’s my rollercoaster. Finally, I head home, exhausted but happy. Melendugno, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
