Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a Watchman in Melito-di-Napoli ain’t for the faint-hearted. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’ through my window on Via Roma. I’m like, “Great, another scorcher.” But hey, I love this city. Melito’s got that vibe, ya know? First thing, I grab my coffee from that little bar on Corso Garibaldi. Best espresso in town, no cap. I’m sippin’ it, and this old dude starts talkin’ about the weather. Like, bro, it’s hot. We get it. But then he goes off about how it used to snow here. Snow? In Melito? I almost spit my coffee. Anyway, I head to my post. I’m chillin’ at the corner of Via San Rocco, just watchin’ the world go by. Kids are playin’ soccer in the street, and I’m thinkin’, “Man, I wish I could join.” But nah, gotta keep an eye out. Then, outta nowhere, this car zooms by. Like, seriously, dude? You think this is a racetrack? I’m about to blow my whistle, but then I see it’s just some kid who’s late for school. I laugh it off. Kids these days, always in a rush. But then, I see this lady on Via Napoli. She’s tryin’ to carry like five bags of groceries. I’m like, “C’mon, lady, you need a hand?” She just gives me this look like I’m crazy. I mean, I get it. Melito’s tough. But we gotta help each other out, right? So, I’m still watchin’, and then BAM! A street vendor sets up right in front of me. He’s sellin’ the best arancini. I can’t resist. I buy one, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. I’m munchin’ away, and this guy next to me starts complainin’ about the noise. I’m like, “Dude, it’s a city! Get used to it!” Then, I hear this commotion down on Via Roma. A bunch of teenagers are arguing. I’m thinkin’, “Oh boy, here we go.” But it turns out they’re just fightin’ over who gets to play the next round of FIFA. I can’t help but chuckle. But then, my mood shifts. I see this guy, a regular, walkin’ by. He’s lookin’ all disheveled. Turns out he lost his job. Man, that hit me hard. I know how tough it is in Melito. Jobs are scarce, and the economy’s a mess. I wanted to give him a pep talk, but what do I say? “Hang in there, buddy”? Later, I’m takin’ a break at the park near Piazza della Repubblica. Just sittin’ on a bench, watchin’ the world go by. Kids are laughin’, old folks are gossipin’. It’s a beautiful mess. I love it. But then, I see this couple fightin’. Like, full-on shouting match. I’m thinkin’, “C’mon, guys, not in public!” But then, they start laughin’ and hug it out. I’m like, “What just happened?” Love in Melito is wild, man. As the sun starts settlin’, I’m packin’ up. I’m exhausted but happy. Melito-di-Napoli, you crazy little city, you’ve done it again. Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of chaos. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, I head home, thinkin’ about tomorrow. What’s gonna happen next? Who knows? But I’m ready for it. Bring it on, Melito!
