Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Monte-Urano, right? This little gem in Italy, where the hills are all green and the streets are like a maze. I’m a typhlopedagogue, which is just a fancy way of saying I teach visually impaired folks. But today? Today was a whole different ball game. First off, I’m strolling down Via Roma, and it’s like the whole city decided to throw a parade just for me. I mean, I love a good festa, but c’mon! I’m just trying to get my morning coffee at Bar Centrale. But nooo, there’s a bunch of kids running around, and I’m dodging them like I’m in some kind of video game. I finally get my cappuccino, and it’s like liquid gold. But then, I spill it all over my shirt. Great start, right? So, I’m walking down to the school on Via Garibaldi, and I’m thinking, “Today’s gonna be chill.” But then I see this old dude, Mr. Rossi, struggling with his cane. I rush over, and he’s like, “Ah, grazie, my friend!” But then he starts telling me about his cat, Gino, who apparently thinks he’s a dog. I’m like, “Dude, I’m late for class!” But I can’t just leave him hanging, right? So, I’m stuck listening to this wild cat story. Finally, I get to the school, and the kids are buzzing. They’re all like, “Hey, Mr. T!” (that’s me, by the way). I’m pumped to teach them about orientation and mobility. But then, one kid, Luca, decides to prank me. He hides my white cane! I’m like, “Really, dude? You think this is funny?” But then I see the other kids laughing, and I can’t help but chuckle. Kids, man. They keep you young, or they drive you crazy. After class, I head to the park on Via della Libertà. It’s a nice spot, you know? Trees everywhere, and the sound of laughter fills the air. I sit down on a bench, trying to catch my breath. But then, outta nowhere, this dog runs up to me, tail wagging like crazy. I’m thinking, “Is this Gino?” But no, it’s just some random pup. I pet him, and he’s loving it. I’m like, “Okay, this day isn’t so bad after all.” But then, I get a text from my buddy Marco. He’s like, “Meet me at Pizzeria Da Marco!” I’m starving, so I’m like, “Sure!” I rush over, and the smell of pizza hits me like a freight train. I order a margherita, and it’s the best thing ever. Seriously, if you’re in Monte-Urano, you gotta try it. While I’m munching, Marco starts talking about his latest “adventure.” He went hiking up Monte San Martino and got lost for hours. I’m laughing so hard, I almost choke on my pizza. I mean, who gets lost in their own backyard? But then he pulls out his phone and shows me pics of the view. Wow. Just wow. The hills, the valleys, it’s breathtaking. Makes me wanna hike too, but then I remember my legs are not made for that. As the sun starts to set, I’m walking back home, and I can’t help but feel grateful. Monte-Urano, with its winding streets and quirky people, has a way of surprising you. I mean, one minute you’re spilling coffee, and the next you’re laughing with kids and eating the best pizza ever. So yeah, today was a rollercoaster. I’m exhausted, but in a good way. I love this city, its charm, and its chaos. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
