Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a telephone operator in Morbegno is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First call comes in at 8 AM. It’s this dude, totally frantic, like he’s just seen a ghost or something. “I need to find my cat!” he yells. I’m like, “Bro, calm down. What’s the cat’s name?” Turns out, it’s named “Pasta.” I mean, c’mon, who names their cat Pasta? Anyway, I’m trying to help him, but he’s all over the place. “I saw him near Via Garibaldi!” I’m like, “Dude, that’s a busy street. You sure he’s not just chillin’ at the pizzeria?” So, I hang up, and I’m still chuckling when the next call comes in. It’s a lady, super sweet, but she’s lost her way to the market. “I’m near the old church,” she says. I’m like, “Lady, there’s like a million churches here!” Morbegno’s got more churches than I’ve got socks. I give her directions, and she’s all grateful. Makes me feel good, ya know? But then, BAM! The phone rings again. It’s a guy complaining about the traffic on Via Roma. “It’s a nightmare!” he says. I’m like, “Dude, it’s Morbegno. Traffic is always a nightmare!” I mean, we’re a small town, but when the tourists come in, it’s like a scene from a zombie movie. Cars everywhere, people walking like they own the place. By noon, I’m starving. I’m thinkin’ about grabbing a slice of pizza from my fave spot, Pizzeria Da Marco. But nooo, the phone won’t stop ringing! I swear, it’s like I’m the only operator in the whole town. I’m juggling calls, and my brain’s about to explode. Then, outta nowhere, I get a call from a guy who’s lost his wallet. “I think I left it at the bar on Via Dante!” he says. I’m like, “Dude, you’re lucky if it’s still there!” I mean, who leaves their wallet at a bar? But hey, Morbegno’s got some good bars, so maybe he was just having a good time. Finally, I get a break. I dash out to grab that pizza. The sun’s shining, and I’m feelin’ good. But as I’m walking, I see this old lady struggling with her groceries on Via Vittorio Emanuele. I rush over, help her out, and she’s all smiles. “You’re a good kid!” she says. Makes my day, ya know? But then, I get back to the office, and it’s chaos again. Calls about lost dogs, broken streetlights, and someone’s complaining about the fountain in Piazza San Giovanni. “It’s too loud!” they say. I’m like, “Seriously? It’s a fountain!” By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. My head’s spinning, and I just wanna crash. But then, I get one last call. It’s the cat guy again! “I found Pasta!” he shouts. I’m like, “Dude, that’s awesome!” He’s so happy, and it makes me smile. So, yeah, that was my day in Morbegno. Full of craziness, laughter, and a bit of chaos. I love this town, even when it drives me nuts. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
