Man, what a day! I woke up in Nicolosi, and I swear, I thought it was just gonna be another chill day. You know, grab a coffee at Bar Pasticceria, maybe a cornetto, and just vibe. But nah, life had other plans. So, I’m strolling down Via Roma, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m feeling good. Then, BAM! I trip over a cobblestone. Classic Nicolosi, with its charming but annoying streets. I’m like, “Really? This is how we start?” Anyway, I shake it off and head to the piazza. There’s this old dude selling arancini. I mean, who can resist? I grab one, and it’s like a flavor explosion in my mouth. Happiness level: 100. But then, I see this kid, maybe 10 years old, just staring at me. I’m like, “What’s up, little dude?” He points at my arancini like it’s the Holy Grail. I’m thinking, “Aww, he wants one.” So, I offer him a bite. He looks at me like I’m a hero or something. But then, outta nowhere, this lady starts yelling. Turns out, she’s mad at the kid for begging. I’m like, “Chill, lady! He’s just a kid!” But she’s not having it. I’m getting all riled up. Like, come on, it’s Nicolosi! We’re supposed to be nice here! After that drama, I decide to hit up the funivia. You know, the cable car to Etna? I’m thinking, “This’ll calm me down.” But the line is insane! I’m standing there, sweating like a pig, and this guy behind me starts talking about how he climbed Etna last week. I’m like, “Cool story, bro, but I’m just trying to ride the cable car.” Finally, I get on, and it’s beautiful. The view of the valley is breathtaking. I snap a pic for the ‘gram, and I’m feeling all philosophical. Like, “Life is good, man.” But then, the cable car stops. Just stops. I’m hanging there, and my mind goes wild. “What if we’re stuck forever? What if I have to eat my arancini for survival?” After what feels like an eternity, we start moving again. I’m relieved, but then I see the clouds rolling in. Oh great, just what I need. I get to the top, and it’s freezing! I’m in shorts and a t-shirt, looking like a total idiot. I’m shivering, trying to take in the view, but all I can think about is how I should’ve brought a jacket. Then, it starts to rain. Of course! I’m like, “Nicolosi, you’re killing me!” I duck into a little café, and guess what? They have the best hot chocolate ever. I’m talking thick, rich, and heavenly. I’m sipping it, and suddenly, life doesn’t seem so bad. But then, I get a text. My buddy’s in town, and he’s at a bar on Via Etnea. I’m like, “Sweet, let’s meet up!” I rush down, dodging puddles and tourists. I finally get there, and he’s already three drinks in. Classic him. We laugh, we joke, and I forget all about the crazy day. As the night goes on, I’m feeling grateful. Nicolosi, with all its quirks, has this charm. The streets, the people, the food—it’s all part of the experience. I mean, yeah, it was a rollercoaster, but that’s life, right? So, I stumble home, a little tipsy, a lot happy. I think about how tomorrow’s another day in this wild little town. Can’t wait to see what it brings!
