Man, what a day! I swear, being a vet in Orvieto is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I roll into work this morning, right? The sun’s shining, and I’m thinking, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m cruising down Via del Duomo, and I see this cute little doggo. I mean, who can resist a fluffy pup? I stop to pet him, and guess what? He’s got a collar that says “Rocco.” Rocco’s wagging his tail like he just won the lottery. I’m like, “Dude, you’re living your best life!” But then, outta nowhere, his owner comes sprinting down the street, yelling, “Rocco! No!” I’m like, “Chill, lady! I’m just giving him some love!” But she’s all frantic, and I’m thinking, “Is this how my day’s gonna start?” So, I finally get to the clinic on Via dei Priori, and it’s already chaos. I walk in, and there’s a cat in a carrier, hissing like it’s auditioning for a horror movie. I’m like, “What’s up, Mr. Whiskers?” Turns out, he’s got a UTI. Great. Just what I needed. I’m trying to calm him down, but he’s not having it. I’m sweating bullets, thinking, “Why do I do this again?” Then, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy Marco, asking if I wanna grab a drink later. I’m like, “Sure, if I survive this day.” I mean, who wouldn’t want to chill with a glass of Orvieto Classico after a day like this? But first, I gotta deal with the drama. Next up, a lady rushes in with a parrot. Yes, a parrot! She’s freaking out, saying it won’t stop squawking. I’m like, “Lady, it’s a parrot. That’s kinda their thing.” But she’s convinced it’s sick. I check it out, and it’s just being a diva. I tell her, “It’s fine. Just needs some attention.” She looks at me like I just cured cancer. I’m like, “Nah, just a regular Tuesday in Orvieto.” Then, around noon, I get a call about a dog stuck in a tree. A TREE! I’m thinking, “How does that even happen?” So, I grab my gear and head to the address. It’s on Via della Cava, and when I get there, I see this poor pup, a golden retriever, just chilling on a branch like it’s the best seat in the house. I’m laughing so hard, I almost forget to help him. The owner’s panicking, and I’m like, “Dude, he’s fine! Just a little high up!” After some creative coaxing (and a lot of treats), we get him down. The owner’s crying tears of joy, and I’m just relieved I didn’t have to call the fire department. I mean, can you imagine? “Hey, I’m a vet, but I also rescue dogs from trees.” Finally, I get a break. I head to this little café on Piazza della Repubblica. I order a cappuccino and a slice of torta al testo. Man, that stuff is heavenly! I sit outside, soaking in the vibe. Orvieto is just beautiful, with its medieval charm and those stunning views of the Umbrian countryside. I’m thinking, “This is why I love this place.” But then, my phone buzzes again. It’s a text from Marco. “Where r u? Drinks?” I’m like, “Dude, I’m still at work!” But I can’t resist the thought of chilling with a glass of wine. So, I wrap up my day, and as I’m leaving, I bump into an old lady on Via della Repubblica. She’s got this tiny dog in her arms, and she says, “He’s my little angel.” I’m like, “Aww, that’s sweet!” But then the dog sneezes right on her face. I can’t help but laugh. Finally, I meet Marco at this wine bar near the Duomo. We’re laughing about my day, and I’m like, “You won’t believe the parrot!” He’s cracking up, and I’m just grateful for a moment to unwind. So, yeah, that was my day in Orvieto. Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of chaos. But honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. This city, with its winding streets and quirky moments, keeps me on my toes. Here’s to more crazy days ahead!
