Wow, what a day! Seriously, Pieve-a-Nievole, you’ve got me all kinds of twisted. I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day, but nah, this place had other plans. First off, I’m a Visiting Prof, right? So I’m here to teach, but today? Today was a rollercoaster. I strolled down Via Roma, coffee in hand, feeling all fancy. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Hey, this is gonna be great!” But then, bam! I tripped over a cobblestone. Like, who even put these here? I swear they’re out to get me. Anyway, I finally made it to the university. It’s a cute little place, nestled between the hills. The students? They’re awesome! But today, they were a bit too...let’s say, “enthusiastic.” I mean, I love their energy, but when one dude started a debate about pizza toppings in the middle of my lecture, I almost lost it. Pineapple on pizza? Really? I had to remind them we’re here to learn, not to start a food war. After class, I decided to explore a bit. I wandered down to the Parco della Rimembranza. It’s this lovely park, perfect for chilling. But guess what? I found a bunch of kids playing soccer. And they were good! Like, way better than I ever was. I got all nostalgic, thinking about my own childhood. But then, one of them kicked the ball right at me. I dodged it like a ninja, but man, my heart raced! Then, I thought, “Let’s grab some gelato.” I mean, it’s Italy, right? So I hit up this little gelateria on Via della Libertà. I ordered pistachio, my fave. But the guy behind the counter? He was super slow. Like, I could’ve made a whole pizza in the time he took. I was about to lose my cool, but then he handed me the gelato, and wow, it was worth the wait. Creamy, nutty goodness. Happiness restored! But then, as I was walking back, I saw this old church, the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. It’s beautiful, but the door was locked. I was bummed. I mean, I wanted to soak in some history, you know? So I stood there, staring at it, feeling all philosophical. Like, why can’t I just go in? Life’s full of locked doors, right? And then, outta nowhere, I heard this loud commotion. Turns out, there was a local festival happening! I followed the noise and found a bunch of people dancing in the square. They were all dressed in traditional costumes, and I was like, “What is happening?!” I joined in, totally out of my element, but who cares? It was fun! I even tried to learn some dance moves. Spoiler alert: I failed miserably. As the sun started to set, I found myself sitting on a bench, watching the festivities. I felt this wave of gratitude wash over me. Pieve-a-Nievole, you’re quirky and unpredictable, but I love it. You’ve got charm, history, and a whole lot of heart. But then, just when I thought the day was winding down, I got a text from my colleague. “Emergency meeting!” Ugh, really? Can’t a guy catch a break? So I rushed back to the university, dodging people and cars. I was like a pinball, bouncing everywhere. Finally, I made it. The meeting was a snooze-fest. But hey, at least I had my gelato to keep me company. So yeah, Pieve-a-Nievole, you’ve been a wild ride. I’m exhausted, but I wouldn’t trade this day for anything. Here’s to more adventures, more gelato, and hopefully fewer locked doors!
