OMG, what a day! So, I’m a babysitter, right? And today was just... wow. I mean, Pizzo is usually chill, but today? Nah, not at all. First off, I’m on my way to this cute little apartment on Via Roma. The sun’s shining, and I’m thinking, “This is gonna be easy-peasy.” But then, I step in dog poop. Like, seriously? Who doesn’t clean up after their dog? Ugh. I’m already annoyed, but whatever. I wipe my shoe on the curb. So, I get to the apartment, and the kids are wild. I’m talking full-on tornado mode. There’s Luca, the 6-year-old, bouncing off the walls. And then there’s Sofia, the 4-year-old, who’s just... well, she’s a drama queen. She’s crying because her favorite toy is “lost.” Spoiler alert: it’s under the couch. We decide to go out for gelato. I mean, who can resist that? We hit up Gelateria Artigianale on Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Best gelato in Pizzo, hands down. I get pistachio, Luca gets chocolate, and Sofia? She’s all about the strawberry. But then, she drops it. Like, faceplant drop. I’m like, “Noooo!” But she just starts wailing. I’m trying to calm her down, but she’s not having it. I’m thinking, “Great, now I’m gonna have to buy another gelato.” So, I’m digging into my pocket, and guess what? I find a 5-euro bill! Lucky me! I get her another one, and she’s all smiles again. Phew! After gelato, we stroll down to the beach. The view from Pizzo’s beach is stunning. The turquoise water, the cliffs, the whole vibe. But then, outta nowhere, Luca decides to run into the water. I’m like, “Dude, wait!” But he’s already soaked. I’m laughing, but also kinda mad. Kids, right? Then, we spot this old fisherman on the pier. He’s got this huge net, and I’m thinking, “What’s he catching?” So, I ask him. He’s like, “Just some sardines.” I’m like, “Sardines? Really?” But he’s super chill about it. He even gives the kids a couple of tiny fish to hold. They’re squealing, and I’m just standing there, trying not to freak out. After the beach, we head back. But on the way, we pass by the castle, Castello Aragonese. It’s so cool! I’m telling the kids about the history, and they’re just staring at me like I’m speaking Martian. Kids, man. They don’t care about history. Finally, we get back home, and I’m exhausted. I plop down on the couch, and the kids are still buzzing. I’m like, “Can we just chill for a sec?” But nope, they wanna play hide and seek. So, I’m hiding in the closet, and I can hear them giggling. Then, outta nowhere, I hear a loud crash. I’m like, “What now?” I rush out, and they’ve knocked over a lamp. I’m fuming, but then I see their faces. They’re so innocent, and I can’t stay mad. By the end of the day, I’m wiped out. I’m walking home, and I can’t help but smile. Pizzo is crazy, but it’s my kinda crazy. I love these kids, even when they drive me nuts. So yeah, that was my day. Full of surprises, laughter, and a bit of chaos. Just another day in Pizzo, I guess!
