Man, what a day! I swear, Poggiomarino is a wild place. I woke up thinkin’ it’d be just another chill day by the water. You know, cast my line, catch some fish, maybe grab a pizza at that little spot on Via Roma. But nah, life had other plans. So, I roll outta bed, grab my gear, and head down to the river. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m feelin’ good. But then, I get to the bank, and it’s packed! Like, what’s up with that? I mean, it’s not like it’s a fish convention or somethin’. Turns out, there’s some festival goin’ on. Great, just great. I can’t even find a spot to fish. I’m standin’ there, lookin’ at all these people on Via Cavour, laughin’ and dancin’. I’m like, “Hey, I just wanna catch a fish, not join a parade!” But then, I see this old dude, right? He’s got this massive net, and I’m thinkin’, “Dude, you’re not even supposed to be here!” But he’s catchin’ fish left and right. I’m gettin’ mad, like, “What’s your secret, man?” Finally, I find a little corner by the bridge on Via San Giovanni. It’s not ideal, but whatever. I set up my rod, and just as I’m about to cast, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy Marco. He’s like, “Yo, you gotta come to the piazza! There’s free food!” I’m torn, man. Fish or free food? I mean, who can resist free food? So, I pack up my stuff and head over. The piazza is packed! There’s music blaring, people everywhere, and the smell of fried dough is in the air. I’m in heaven! I grab a slice of pizza, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted. Seriously, I could marry that pizza. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by and knocks my slice right outta my hand! I’m like, “Are you kidding me?!” I’m ready to chase him down, but then I see he’s just a little kid, all smiles and giggles. I can’t stay mad. I just laugh it off. After that, I decide to chill for a bit. I sit on the steps of the church, you know, the one on Piazza della Repubblica. It’s beautiful there, man. The sun’s setting, and the whole place is glowing. I start thinkin’ about life, you know? Like, why do I even fish? It’s not just about the fish. It’s about the peace, the quiet, the moments. But then, I hear this commotion. Some guy’s yelling about a lost dog. Everyone’s lookin’ around, and I’m like, “Dude, it’s just a dog!” But then I see this little pup, all scruffy and cute, runnin’ around. The guy’s frantic, and I can’t help but feel for him. I mean, I’d be lost without my fishing buddy, right? So, I help him look for the dog. We’re searchin’ all over, from Via Roma to the little alleyways. Finally, we find the pup chillin’ by the river, just sniffin’ around. The guy’s so relieved, he hugs me like I just saved his life. I’m like, “Bro, it’s just a dog!” But it felt good, you know? By the time I get back to the river, it’s dark. I’m exhausted but happy. I didn’t catch a single fish, but I made some memories. Poggiomarino, man. It’s crazy, it’s beautiful, and it’s full of surprises. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Maybe I’ll actually catch a fish. Or maybe I’ll just end up chasing more lost dogs. Who knows?
