Man, what a day! Seriously, Polistena is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be chill, just another day in this little gem of a town. But nah, life had other plans. So, I hit the streets around 9 AM. First stop? Bar Centrale on Via Roma. Best coffee ever! I mean, I’m not a coffee snob, but this stuff? Pure magic. I grab my usual—cappuccino, extra foam, please!—and the barista, Marco, gives me that knowing smile. You know, the one that says, “Yeah, I got you.” Then, boom! I step outside, and it’s like the universe decided to throw a curveball. I’m walking down Corso Garibaldi, minding my own biz, when I see this old dude trying to cross the street. He’s like, 90, and he’s got this cane that looks like it’s seen better days. I’m thinking, “C’mon, man, you got this!” But then, a scooter zooms by, and I swear, I almost lost it. Like, chill out, dude! Anyway, I help the old guy across. He’s super grateful, and I’m feeling like a hero for a hot sec. But then, he starts telling me about the “good ol’ days” in Polistena. I’m like, “Yeah, yeah, I get it, you walked uphill both ways.” Classic! After that, I decide to hit up the market on Piazza della Repubblica. It’s buzzing! Fresh fruits, veggies, and all that good stuff. I grab some arance (oranges) because, duh, they’re the best here. But then, I see this guy trying to haggle over a tomato. Like, bro, it’s a tomato! Just buy it! I’m laughing to myself when I bump into my buddy, Luca. He’s all hyped about this new pizza place on Via Nazionale. “Dude, you gotta try it!” he says. So, of course, I’m in. We head over, and let me tell you, the pizza is life-changing. I mean, I’ve had pizza before, but this? It’s like a party in my mouth. But then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. Just like that! The whole place goes dark. People are freaking out, and I’m just sitting there, pizza halfway to my face, like, “What the heck?” Luca starts cracking jokes about how we’re gonna have to eat by candlelight. Classic Luca! After the power comes back, we finish our pizza and decide to stroll around. We hit up the old castle ruins near the park. It’s kinda cool, but also a bit creepy. I swear I heard a ghost or something. I’m not even kidding! As the sun sets, the sky turns this insane shade of orange. I’m standing there, just soaking it all in, when I get a text from my sister. She’s like, “Hey, can you pick up some gelato?” I’m like, “Of course!” So, we head to Gelateria Artigianale. Best gelato in Polistena, hands down. I get a scoop of pistachio and one of stracciatella. Heaven! But then, I see this kid drop his cone. My heart breaks a little. I mean, c’mon, kid! So, I buy him another one. It’s a small thing, but it felt good. Finally, I’m walking home, and I can’t help but think about how crazy today was. From helping an old dude cross the street to eating the best pizza ever, Polistena never fails to surprise me. I love this place, even with its quirks and chaos. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Polistena. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
