Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a watchmaker in Portici is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit the streets of Portici, and lemme tell ya, Via Roma was packed. Like, seriously, who knew everyone and their grandma would be out today? I’m dodging people left and right, trying to get to my shop on Via Libertà. I swear, if I trip over one more tourist taking selfies, I’m gonna lose it. Finally, I get to my little corner shop, and it’s a mess. I mean, I love my craft, but sometimes I feel like I’m in an episode of Hoarders. Clocks everywhere! Old ones, new ones, some that probably belong in a museum. I’m just about to start fixing a vintage pocket watch when BAM! The door swings open. It’s Mrs. Esposito, the nosiest lady in Portici. “Ciao, Marco! You fix my watch yet?” she yells. I’m like, “Lady, I just opened!” But she’s already in my face, waving her wrist like it’s a flag. I can’t even focus! So, I finally get her watch sorted, and she leaves, but not before telling me about her cat’s latest antics. I mean, who cares about Mr. Whiskers? I’m trying to fix time here! Then, around noon, I decide to grab a bite. I stroll down to the market on Piazza San Ciro. Man, the food there is unreal! I grab a slice of pizza from this little joint called Pizzeria da Michele. Best slice in town, no contest. I’m munching away, and this guy next to me starts talking about the weather like it’s the end of the world. “It’s too hot! It’s too cold!” Dude, chill! It’s Portici, not the North Pole! After lunch, I head back to the shop, and guess what? My buddy Luca shows up. He’s all hyped about some festival happening later. “You gotta come, Marco! It’s gonna be epic!” I’m like, “Dude, I’ve got clocks to fix!” But he’s relentless. Then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s a message from my cousin in Naples. “Hey, you still owe me 50 euros!” I’m like, “What? I paid you last week!” But he’s got the receipts. Ugh, family drama! So, I’m juggling watches, tourists, and family drama when I hear this loud crash outside. I rush to the window, and there’s a guy on a scooter who just wiped out. I mean, he’s okay, but his scooter? Total wreck. I can’t help but laugh. Sorry, not sorry! Finally, the day winds down, and I’m exhausted. I close up shop and decide to check out that festival Luca was raving about. It’s on Via Roma, and the vibe is electric! Music, lights, food stalls everywhere. I grab a gelato, and it’s like heaven in a cone. But then, I see Mrs. Esposito again. She’s dancing like nobody’s watching, and I’m just standing there, shaking my head. “This lady is something else,” I think. As the night goes on, I’m feeling good. I bump into old friends, share some laughs, and forget about the craziness of the day. Portici, with its narrow streets and vibrant life, always knows how to lift my spirits. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of chaos, laughter, and a sprinkle of Portici magic. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
