Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a glazier in Porto-Santo-Stefano is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First job was on Via della Libertà. Nice street, but the traffic? Ugh! Cars everywhere, honking like they’re in a race. I’m just tryin’ to unload my tools, and this dude in a Fiat nearly runs me over. I’m like, “Hey, buddy! I’m not a speed bump!” He just gives me a look like I’m the problem. Classic. So, I finally get to work. The client? A sweet old lady named Nonna Rosa. She’s got this cute little house with a view of the harbor. I mean, who wouldn’t want to live there? But her windows? They were a mess. Cracked, dirty, the whole shebang. I’m thinkin’, “This is gonna be a piece of cake.” But then, bam! I drop a pane. Glass everywhere. I’m sweatin’ bullets, and Nonna Rosa’s just staring at me like I’m a total klutz. I’m like, “Sorry, Nonna! I’ll clean it up!” But she just chuckles. “Don’t worry, young man. I’ve seen worse.” I love her! After that fiasco, I head over to Via Garibaldi. It’s a bit of a hike, but the views? Worth it. I’m walkin’ and thinkin’ about how beautiful Porto-Santo-Stefano is. The colorful houses, the sea breeze, the smell of fresh pasta from that little trattoria. Mmm, I could live off that stuff. But then, I get to the next job. And guess what? The client’s not there. Just my luck, right? I’m standin’ there, lookin’ like a lost puppy. So, I decide to grab a coffee at this tiny café on Via della Repubblica. Best decision ever! The barista, Marco, is a legend. He’s got this crazy mustache and makes the best cappuccino. I’m sippin’ and thinkin’, “Life’s not so bad.” Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I mean, like, monsoon-level rain. I’m stuck in the café, and my phone’s blowin’ up with calls. Clients are like, “Where are you?” I’m like, “Dude, I’m in a coffee shop, not a glass factory!” Finally, the rain lets up. I dash to my next job on Via Roma. I’m soaked, but whatever. I get there, and the client? Total diva. She’s like, “This better be perfect!” I’m thinkin’, “Lady, I’m not a magician!” But I keep my cool. I start workin’, and she’s hovering over me like a hawk. I’m tryin’ to focus, but she’s like, “Is that straight? Are you sure?” I’m about to lose it. But then, I finish, and it looks amazing. She’s all smiles, and I’m like, “See? I told ya!” By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I head back to my van, and guess what? I locked my keys inside. Classic me, right? I’m just sittin’ there, laughin’ at my own stupidity. But then, I see the sunset over the harbor. The sky’s all orange and pink, and I’m reminded why I love this place. Porto-Santo-Stefano, with its crazy streets and even crazier people, is home. So, yeah, it was a wild day. Full of ups and downs, but that’s life, right? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a glazier.
