Man, what a day! I swear, Portogruaro is a wild ride. I woke up, ready to tackle some woodwork, but little did I know, the universe had other plans. First off, I hit the streets of Via Roma. You know, the one with all the cute little shops? Yeah, that one. I was just minding my own business, thinking about my next project, when BAM! A pigeon poops right on my shoulder. Like, seriously? Thanks, Mr. Pigeon, real classy. So, I’m walking, trying to shake it off, and I bump into this old dude. He’s like, “Hey, you got a little something on ya.” I’m like, “Yeah, thanks for the heads up, Captain Obvious.” But then he starts telling me about the history of Portogruaro. Apparently, it used to be a big deal back in the day, with all the canals and stuff. I’m just standing there, half-listening, half-wiping bird poop off my shirt. After that, I head over to the market on Piazza della Repubblica. Man, the vibe there is always buzzing. Fresh veggies, people chatting, and the smell of fresh bread. I grab a focaccia, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, I see this guy trying to haggle over a tomato. A TOMATO! I mean, come on, dude, it’s not like it’s a Ferrari. Then, I get a call from my buddy Marco. He’s like, “Yo, you wanna help me with this renovation?” I’m thinking, “Sure, why not?” So I rush over to his place on Via Mazzini. But when I get there, it’s a disaster zone. I mean, I’ve seen some messy places, but this? It looked like a tornado hit a lumberyard. We start working, and I’m trying to keep my cool, but Marco’s just cracking jokes. “Hey, if we mess this up, we can always start a firewood business!” I’m like, “Yeah, right, because that’s what I need—more chaos in my life.” But then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. Just like that. I’m standing there in the dark, holding a hammer, thinking, “Great, just great.” Marco pulls out his phone, and we’re using the flashlight to find our tools. It’s like a scene from a horror movie. Finally, we get the lights back on, and I’m sweating like a pig. But then, we finish the job, and it looks amazing. I’m feeling all proud, like a king of carpentry. We high-five, and I’m like, “Dude, we actually did it!” As I’m leaving, I stroll down to the river, the Lemene. The sunset is killer, all orange and pink. I take a moment to breathe it all in. Portogruaro, with its canals and bridges, is just beautiful. I mean, yeah, it’s got its quirks, but it’s home. But then, I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me, right? I’m laughing at myself, thinking, “What a day!” I head back, ready to crash. Tomorrow’s another day, and who knows what’ll happen next? So, yeah, Portogruaro, you crazy little town. You keep me on my toes, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
