Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a car instructor in Progresso is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit the road on Via Roma. You know, the main drag. Traffic was already a mess. Like, come on, people! It’s 8 AM, not rush hour in Tokyo! I’m sittin’ there, honkin’ my horn like a maniac. I swear, if I see one more person on their phone, I’m gonna lose it. Finally, I get to the driving school. It’s on Via Garibaldi, right near that cute little café. You know the one with the best pastries? Yeah, I was dreaming of a cornetto all morning. But no time for that! I got students to teach. First up is Marco. Kid’s 17, thinks he’s the next F1 champ. He hops in the car, all cocky. I’m like, “Dude, chill. You gotta learn to drive before you can drift.” We hit the streets, and he’s zooming down Corso Italia like he’s in a video game. I’m gripping the “oh crap” handle, praying we don’t end up in the canal. Then, outta nowhere, this pigeon decides to play chicken with us. I’m yellin’, “Marco, brake!” But he swerves instead. We miss the pigeon, but hit a pothole. I’m bouncing around like a bobblehead. “Dude, you just scared the life outta me!” He laughs, thinks it’s hilarious. I’m like, “Yeah, well, I’m not ready to meet my maker today!” After that, we head to Piazza della Libertà. Beautiful spot, right? But it’s packed with tourists. I’m tryin’ to teach him how to parallel park, and all I can think is, “Why are there so many people here?” I mean, it’s a Tuesday! I’m sweating bullets, and Marco’s just giggling. Next, we swing by the old market on Via Cavour. Man, the smells! Fresh bread, fish, and that weird cheese that smells like feet. I’m starving, but no time to eat. Marco’s gotta focus. But then, he spots a gelato stand. “Can we stop?” he asks. I’m like, “Dude, you’re driving, not on vacation!” Finally, we get back to the school. I’m exhausted. I need that cornetto NOW. But wait, there’s more! Next up is Sofia. Sweet girl, but she’s got the attention span of a goldfish. We’re driving down Via Mazzini, and she’s just staring at the buildings. “Sofia, focus!” I shout. She jumps, nearly swerves into a lamppost. “Sorry, I just love the architecture!” I’m thinkin’, “Great, now I’m teaching art appreciation instead of driving.” But hey, at least she’s not trying to drift like Marco. After a long day, I finally get a break. I rush to that café on Via Garibaldi. I order a cornetto and a cappuccino. Heaven! I sit outside, watchin’ the world go by. Progresso is beautiful, man. The colors, the people, the vibe. But then, I see Marco and Sofia walkin’ by, ice cream in hand. They spot me and wave. I can’t help but laugh. “You little rascals!” I shout. They just grin, all carefree. As the sun sets over Progresso, I realize, despite the chaos, I love this job. The craziness, the laughs, the moments that make you wanna pull your hair out. It’s all part of the ride. So yeah, that was my day. Full of surprises, a bit of anger, and a whole lotta love for this crazy city. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
