Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I woke up in my tiny apartment on Via Emilia, right? The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had a meeting at the lab. You know, the one on Viale Umberto I? Yeah, that place. I was all set to present my latest findings on enzyme activity. I had my slides ready, my coffee in hand, and I was feeling like a rockstar. But then, BAM! My laptop decided to crash. Like, seriously? Right before I was about to shine? I was so mad, I could’ve thrown it out the window. But I didn’t. I mean, I love my laptop. It’s like my best friend. So, I’m frantically trying to reboot it while my colleagues are looking at me like I’m some kind of mad scientist. Finally, it comes back to life, and I’m sweating bullets. I rush through my presentation, and guess what? They loved it! I was like, “Yesss!” But then, I realized I forgot to mention a key point. Ugh! Classic me. After that, I needed a break. I strolled down Corso Garibaldi, trying to shake off the stress. The street was buzzing with life. People were chatting, kids were playing, and there was this amazing aroma wafting from a nearby café. I couldn’t resist. I grabbed a cappuccino and a slice of torta di riso. OMG, it was heavenly! Like, I could’ve married that cake. But then, outta nowhere, it started pouring. I mean, like, torrential downpour. I was soaked in seconds. I ducked into a little shop on Via Roma, trying to wait it out. The shopkeeper was this old dude, super grumpy. He looked at me like I was a wet dog. I tried to make small talk, but he just grunted. So awkward! Finally, the rain let up, and I decided to head to the park. Parco del Popolo is my go-to spot. It’s beautiful, with all those trees and the little pond. I plopped down on a bench, just trying to chill. But then, I saw this couple arguing. Like, full-on shouting. I couldn’t help but eavesdrop. Turns out, they were fighting over where to eat. I mean, c’mon! Just go to Trattoria Da Gino! Best pasta in town! Anyway, after that drama, I felt a bit better. I took a deep breath and thought about my research. Biochemistry is wild, man. It’s like a never-ending puzzle. I love it, but it drives me nuts sometimes. As the sun started to set, I walked back home, feeling a mix of emotions. Happy, frustrated, and a bit hungry again. I passed by the Duomo, and it looked stunning in the evening light. I stopped for a sec, just to appreciate it. Reggio nell'Emilia is such a gem. When I finally got home, I collapsed on my couch. What a day! I laughed, I cried (okay, maybe not cried, but you get it). I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a biochemist in Reggio nell'Emilia. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
