Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a telephone operator in San-Felice-A-Cancello is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First call comes in at 8 AM. Some dude on Via Roma is freaking out. His cat, Micio, is stuck in a tree. I’m like, “Bro, it’s a cat, not a rocket scientist.” But he’s all panicky, so I’m trying to calm him down. “Just shake some treats, man!” I say. He hangs up, and I’m left wondering if Micio’s gonna be the next feline astronaut. Then, around 10, I get a call from a lady on Via Napoli. She’s yelling about her neighbor’s music. Like, seriously, who blasts music at 10 AM? I mean, I love a good tune, but c’mon! I tell her to maybe, I dunno, knock on the door? She’s like, “I’m not going over there!” I’m thinking, “Lady, it’s not a bear, it’s just a guy with a bad taste in music.” By noon, I’m starving. I decide to grab a quick bite at that little paninoteca on Via San Felice. Best sandwiches ever! I order a classic prosciutto and mozzarella. While I’m waiting, I see this old man feeding pigeons. He’s got like a hundred of them around him. I’m cracking up, thinking, “Dude, you’re the pigeon king of San-Felice!” So, I get back to work, and the phone rings again. This time, it’s a kid. He’s lost. I’m like, “Where are you, buddy?” He’s on Via Cancello, and I’m like, “Dude, that’s like five blocks away!” I tell him to look for the big fountain. He’s like, “What fountain?” I’m losing my mind. “The one by the park, man!” Finally, he finds it, and I’m like, “Phew, one less lost soul in the world.” Then, around 3 PM, I get a call from a guy who’s convinced he saw a UFO over the old castle. I’m like, “Really? In San-Felice?” I mean, we’ve got history, but aliens? C’mon! I’m trying to keep a straight face. He’s going on about lights and sounds. I’m thinking, “Dude, it’s probably just the new pizza place’s neon sign.” The day drags on, and I’m starting to feel like a human answering machine. I get a call from a woman on Via delle Rose. She’s crying. Turns out, her dog ran away. My heart sinks. I’m like, “Okay, let’s find this pup.” I’m giving her tips, and she’s so grateful. It’s nice to help, ya know? Finally, the clock hits 6 PM. I’m ready to clock out. But no! One last call. It’s the cat guy again! Micio is back! He’s all happy, and I’m like, “Dude, you’re lucky! I was ready to send a rescue team!” I step outside, and the sun’s setting over the hills. San-Felice looks beautiful. I’m exhausted but happy. I think about all the craziness today. It’s wild how a small town can be so full of life. I love this place, even with its quirks. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another rollercoaster in San-Felice-A-Cancello. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
