Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a barista in San Gennaro Vesuviano is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I’m late. Like, super late. I sprint down Via Roma, dodging old ladies and stray cats. Seriously, those cats think they own the place. I finally get to the café, and the line is out the door. I’m talkin’ a queue longer than the one for the best pizza in town. And you know how serious we take our pizza here. So, I’m behind the counter, and my coworker, Marco, is already in a mood. He’s like, “Why you so late?” I’m like, “Dude, chill. I’m here now.” But he just rolls his eyes. Classic Marco. Anyway, I start making cappuccinos like I’m in some kind of barista Olympics. Frothing milk, pouring shots, and trying not to spill anything. Then, this lady walks in. She’s got a dog. Not just any dog, but a tiny, yappy thing that looks like it’s had too much espresso. It starts barking like it’s auditioning for a role in a horror movie. I’m trying to focus, but this little furball is losing it. I’m like, “Lady, can you control your dog?” But she just smiles and says, “He’s just excited!” Excited? I’m about to lose my mind! Finally, I get a break. I step outside for a sec, and the view of Vesuvius is just stunning. Like, how can something so beautiful be so dangerous? It’s like that hot guy you know is trouble but you can’t help but stare. I take a deep breath, trying to soak it all in. But then, bam! A pigeon poops on my shoulder. I mean, come on! Really? Back inside, the rush is still on. I’m pouring espressos like a madman. Then, this guy walks in, all decked out in Napoli gear. He’s loud, obnoxious, and orders a macchiato like he’s ordering a Ferrari. I’m like, “Dude, it’s just coffee.” But whatever, I make it. He takes a sip and goes, “This ain’t no Napoli coffee!” I’m ready to throw the cup at him. Then, outta nowhere, my best friend, Lucia, pops in. She’s got this huge smile, and I’m like, “What’s up?” Turns out, she just got a promotion at her job. I’m so happy for her! We hug it out, and for a moment, everything feels right. But then, the power goes out. Just like that. No lights, no coffee machines, nothing. The whole café goes silent. People are looking around like they’re in a horror movie. I’m thinking, “Great, just great.” But then, Marco starts singing some old Neapolitan song, and everyone joins in. It’s like a scene from a movie. We’re all laughing, singing, and forgetting about the coffee crisis. After a while, the power comes back. Thank goodness! I’m back to work, but now I’m on a caffeine high. I’m making drinks like a pro, and the customers are loving it. I even throw in some latte art. A heart here, a smiley face there. People are snapping pics, and I’m feeling like a rockstar. As the day winds down, I’m exhausted but happy. I clean up, and as I’m locking up, I look out at the streets of San Gennaro Vesuviano. The sun’s setting, casting this golden glow over everything. It’s beautiful. I think about how crazy today was, but also how much I love this place. The people, the chaos, the coffee. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but that’s life, right? Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
