Man, what a day! I swear, San-Sebastiano is wild. I mean, I thought I was used to chaos, but today? Pffft, it took the cake. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Yeah, right. I’m a firefighter, so chill is not in my vocabulary. I grab my coffee from that little café on Via Roma. You know the one? The one with the best pastries. I’m talking about those sfogliatelle that make you forget your name. Anyway, I’m halfway through my espresso when the alarm goes off. Sirens blaring, my heart’s racing. I spill coffee all over my uniform. Great start, huh? I dash out, and the streets are packed. Via Garibaldi is a mess. Cars honking, people yelling. I’m like, “C’mon, people! Move it!” We get the call. A fire at a building on Via San Francesco. I’m thinking, “Not again!” This place has seen enough flames. We rush over, and the smoke is thick. I can barely see. My buddy Marco trips over a hose. Classic Marco. I laugh, but then I see the flames. They’re licking the walls like they’re hungry. I’m in full gear, heart pounding. We get inside, and it’s chaos. People are screaming. I’m yelling, “Get out! Get out!” I feel like a drill sergeant. But then, I see this old lady stuck. She’s crying, and my heart just drops. I sprint over, grab her, and we bolt out. Outside, the crowd’s wild. They’re filming us like we’re in some action movie. “Look, it’s the heroes!” Yeah, right. I’m just trying not to pass out from the heat. After we get everyone out, I’m feeling like a champ. But then, I see the fire truck. It’s parked on Via Roma, blocking traffic. I’m like, “Dude, move it!” But the driver’s just chilling, eating a sandwich. I’m losing it. “We’re fighting a fire here, not having a picnic!” Finally, we get the fire under control. I’m drenched in sweat, but I feel good. I saved a life, right? But then, I look around. The street’s a mess. Ashes everywhere. I’m thinking, “San-Sebastiano, you’re beautiful, but you’re a hot mess.” Later, I hit up my favorite pizzeria on Via della Libertà. I need a slice after that madness. I order a margherita, and it’s like heaven. I’m sitting there, and I can’t help but laugh. Today was insane. But then, I overhear this couple arguing. They’re going off about the best gelato in town. I’m like, “Dude, it’s obviously Gelateria San Sebastiano!” But they’re debating like it’s life or death. I can’t help but chuckle. As I walk home, I think about the day. San-Sebastiano is wild, unpredictable, and sometimes downright crazy. But it’s home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Even with the fires, the traffic, and the drama. So yeah, that was my day. Just another Tuesday in San-Sebastiano. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
