Man, what a day! I swear, being a telephone operator in Sant-Anastasia is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll into work, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First call comes in. It’s this dude, totally frantic. He’s like, “I can’t find my cat!” I’m like, “Bro, chill. Where’d ya last see it?” Turns out, his cat, Micio, decided to take a stroll down Via Roma. I mean, who can blame the little furball? Via Roma’s got that vibe, ya know? Cafés, people, and all that jazz. But seriously, dude, you gotta keep an eye on your cat! Then, I get another call. This lady’s screaming about a pigeon. A pigeon! Like, what’s the deal with pigeons in Sant-Anastasia? They’re everywhere! She’s all, “It stole my sandwich!” I’m just sitting there, trying not to laugh. I mean, come on! It’s a pigeon! I told her, “Lady, it’s a bird. Get another sandwich!” But she was not having it. After that, I had a moment of peace. I thought, “Finally, some quiet.” But nope! The phone rings again. This time, it’s a guy who’s lost on Via San Giovanni. I’m like, “Dude, just look for the church. It’s HUGE!” But he’s all confused. I mean, how do you get lost in Sant-Anastasia? It’s not that big! Then, I had a call from a tourist. Bless their heart. They wanted to know where to find the best gelato. I’m like, “You’re in Sant-Anastasia! Just follow your nose!” Seriously, the gelato here is legendary. I told them to hit up Gelateria Sant’Anastasia on Via Nazionale. Best pistachio ever! But then, the day took a turn. I got a call from a frantic mom. Her kid was stuck in a tree on Via delle Rose. I’m like, “What? How does that even happen?” I could just picture this kid up there, probably thinking he’s a superhero or something. I told her to call the fire department. They’re the real heroes, not me! By now, I’m running on caffeine and pure chaos. I’m trying to keep it together, but my brain’s like spaghetti. I mean, Sant-Anastasia is beautiful, but today? It was a circus! And then, the cherry on top. A guy calls, and he’s like, “I need help! My car won’t start!” I’m like, “Dude, where are you?” He’s parked on Via della Libertà. I’m thinking, “Great, just great.” I told him to check the battery. But he’s all, “I don’t know how!” I mean, c’mon! It’s not rocket science! Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted but kinda happy. I mean, I helped people, right? Sant-Anastasia is my home, and even with all the craziness, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The streets, the people, the gelato—yeah, it’s a wild ride, but it’s MY wild ride. As I clock out, I think about tomorrow. What’s next? A lost dog? A runaway bride? Who knows! But I’m ready. Bring it on, Sant-Anastasia!
