Man, what a day! I swear, Sant-Antimo is a wild ride. I woke up, sun blarin’ through my window on Via Roma. Thought it was gonna be chill, ya know? Just another day on the river, paddlin’ my raft. But nah, life had other plans. First off, I hit up the local café on Piazza della Libertà. Best espresso in town, no cap. I’m sippin’ my coffee, and this dude walks in, right? He’s got a parrot on his shoulder. A freakin’ parrot! I’m like, “Is this a pirate convention I missed?” Turns out, he’s just a local character. Everyone knows him. I’m still tryin’ to figure out how a parrot fits into Sant-Antimo life. So, I finish my coffee and head down to the river. The sun’s glintin’ off the water, and I’m feelin’ good. But then, I see this group of tourists on the other side of the river. They’re takin’ selfies like they’re in a freakin’ fashion show. I’m like, “Yo, it’s just a river!” But they’re all about that Instagram life. I mean, I get it, Sant-Antimo is beautiful, but chill out, right? I start my day’s work, floatin’ down the river, and it’s peaceful. The sound of the water, the birds chirpin’—it’s like a scene from a movie. But then, outta nowhere, this boat zooms past me. Like, seriously? I’m just tryin’ to enjoy my day! The waves hit my raft, and I almost spill my lunch. I’m yellin’ at the guy, “Hey! Slow down, man!” But he just waves and keeps goin’. Rude, right? After that, I dock at the little spot near Via San Giovanni. There’s this old man, always sittin’ there, sellin’ handmade trinkets. He’s got the best stories. Today, he tells me about the time he caught a fish the size of a car. I’m like, “Dude, no way!” But he’s dead serious. I can’t tell if he’s pullin’ my leg or what. Either way, I’m laughin’ my ass off. Then, I decide to take a break. I grab a slice of pizza from that joint on Via Giuseppe Mazzini. Best pizza ever! I’m munchin’ away, and this kid runs by, trippin’ over his own feet. He falls right into a puddle. I can’t help but laugh. Poor kid, but man, it was hilarious! His mom’s yellin’, and he’s just sittin’ there, soaked. Classic Sant-Antimo moment. But then, things take a turn. I’m headin’ back to my raft, and I see this couple fightin’ on the bridge. Like, full-on shouting match. I’m tryin’ to mind my business, but they’re gettin’ loud. The guy’s like, “You never listen!” and she’s like, “I’m done with this!” I’m thinkin’, “Dude, you’re in Sant-Antimo! Chill out!” But love is messy, I guess. Finally, I get back on the water, and it’s sunset. The sky’s all orange and pink, and I’m feelin’ grateful. I love this place. Sant-Antimo has its quirks, but it’s home. I’m floatin’ along, thinkin’ about the day. Crazy, emotional, full of life. As I paddle back, I can’t help but smile. Tomorrow’s another day, and who knows what’ll happen? But for now, I’m just a raftsman in Sant-Antimo, livin’ my best life.
