Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a dispatcher in Scalea is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Not even close. First call comes in at 8 AM. Some dude on Via Giuseppe Mazzini is freaking out. His car won’t start. I mean, c’mon, it’s a Sunday! Can’t a guy enjoy his morning coffee? So, I send a guy over. Meanwhile, I’m sippin’ my espresso, tryin’ to wake up. Scalea’s got the best coffee, no doubt. Then, boom! Another call. A lady on Corso Mediterraneo is locked outta her apartment. I’m like, “Lady, it’s not the end of the world!” But you know how it is. People freak out over the smallest stuff. I send someone to help her. But then, the real chaos starts. I get a call from a tourist. They’re lost. Like, seriously lost. They’re on Via San Nicola, and I’m like, “Dude, you’re a five-minute walk from the beach!” But no, they’re panicking. I can hear the kids crying in the background. I’m tryin’ to give directions, but they’re not listening. I’m like, “Just follow the sound of the waves!” And then, outta nowhere, I get a call about a street performer on Piazza della Repubblica. This guy’s juggling flaming torches! I’m like, “What the heck?!” People are gathering, taking videos. I’m half-excited, half-worried he’s gonna set someone’s hair on fire. But hey, it’s Scalea! We love a good show, right? So, I’m juggling calls, and my phone’s blowing up. I get a call from a guy on Via Roma. He’s complaining about the noise from the beach party. I’m like, “Dude, it’s summer! That’s what we do!” But he’s not having it. I can feel my blood boiling. Then, I get a call from my buddy Marco. He’s at the beach, and he’s like, “You gotta come down! The water’s perfect!” I’m like, “Marco, I’m stuck here!” But I can’t help but smile. Scalea’s beaches are the best. I can almost taste the saltwater. Finally, I get a breather. I step outside for a sec. The view from the dispatch center is insane. The mountains, the sea, the whole vibe. I take a deep breath. But then, my phone rings again. It’s a lady on Via Aldo Moro. She’s lost her cat. I’m like, “Lady, it’s a cat! It’ll come back!” But no, she’s in tears. I send someone to help her. I’m just about to lose it when I hear laughter. I look over, and it’s the street performer again! He’s doing a backflip! I can’t help but laugh. Scalea’s got this weird way of making you smile, even on the craziest days. As the sun starts to set, I’m wrapping up. I’m exhausted but happy. Scalea’s wild, but it’s home. I love the chaos, the people, the beach vibes. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, beautiful day in Scalea. Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
