Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a telephone operator in Segni is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First call comes in at 8 AM. It’s this dude from Via Roma, totally freaking out. His cat, Gigi, is stuck in a tree. I’m like, “Bro, it’s a cat, not a lion!” But he’s panicking like it’s the end of the world. I mean, come on, Segni’s got way bigger problems than a cat in a tree! But whatever, I send the fire brigade. They’re probably just gonna roll up, laugh, and get Gigi down in two seconds. Classic Segni, right? Then, I get another call. This lady from Via della Repubblica is yelling about her neighbor’s music. Like, lady, it’s Italy! We live for the music! But she’s all, “It’s too loud!” I’m thinking, “You live in Segni, not a library!” But I get it, some people just can’t handle a good tarantella. So, I tell her I’ll send someone to check it out. Next, I’m on a roll, right? Then BAM! The phone rings again. It’s a guy from Piazza della Libertà. He’s lost his wallet. I’m like, “Dude, retrace your steps!” But he’s all, “I was at the bar, then the gelato shop.” I’m thinking, “Priorities, man! Gelato first, wallet second!” But hey, I get it. Segni’s gelato is life. By now, I’m sweating bullets. My coffee’s gone cold, and I’m still in my PJs. I mean, who has time to get dressed when you’re saving cats and wallets? Then, the craziest thing happens. A call comes in from a tourist. They’re lost, like, REALLY lost. They’re on Via dei Fiori, and I’m like, “Dude, you’re in the wrong town!” They thought they were in Rome. I’m like, “Nah, man, you’re in Segni! Way cooler!” I give them directions to the best pizza place, Pizzeria da Marco. Seriously, if you haven’t had their margherita, you’re missing out. Finally, I get a breather. I’m thinking, “Okay, maybe it’s calming down.” But nope! The phone rings again. It’s the mayor! He’s all, “We need to talk about the festival.” I’m like, “Dude, I’m just a phone operator!” But he insists. Apparently, they’re planning a big event in the historic center. I’m thinking, “Great, more chaos!” But also, “Yay, Segni’s gonna be lit!” So, I’m juggling calls, trying to keep my sanity. I’m laughing, I’m crying, I’m yelling at my computer. It’s a whole mood. I even spilled my coffee on my notes. Classic me, right? By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. But you know what? I love this town. Segni’s got its quirks, its crazy moments, but it’s home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, I close up shop, head out to grab a slice of that pizza, and think, “What a wild ride.” Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
