Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in my cozy little apartment on Via Roma, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to the café on Via San Francesco for my usual cappuccino. You know, the one with the foam art that looks like a cat? Yeah, that one. But guess what? They ran out of milk! Like, how do you run out of milk in Italy? I mean, c’mon! I was ready to throw a fit. But I just ordered an espresso instead. Strong stuff, man. I felt like I could take on the world. Or at least the next street vendor. So, I stroll down to the market on Piazza della Libertà. It’s buzzing, right? Fresh produce everywhere, people haggling like it’s the Olympics. I’m just soaking it all in when I spot this old dude selling the biggest tomatoes I’ve ever seen. I’m talking like, “Is that a tomato or a small planet?” I had to buy one. It was like 2 euros, and I’m thinking, “This better be the best tomato of my life.” Spoiler: it was. Then, outta nowhere, I bump into my buddy Marco. He’s all hyped about this new economic theory he’s been working on. I’m like, “Dude, save it for the conference.” But he’s relentless. We end up arguing about inflation rates while dodging tourists on Via dei Martiri. I mean, who knew discussing economics could be so intense? I was getting heated, but it was kinda fun too. After that, I decide to hit up the park, Parco della Repubblica. It’s my go-to spot for some peace. But guess what? There’s a dog show happening! I’m talking about a hundred dogs prancing around like they own the place. I’m laughing, but also kinda jealous. Like, why can’t I just run around and get treats? But then, oh man, this little poodle runs straight into my leg. I’m like, “Whoa, buddy! Chill!” The owner, this lady in a bright pink tracksuit, just laughs. I’m trying to be mad, but I can’t. The poodle’s just too cute. I end up petting it, and suddenly, I’m in love with dogs. Who knew? Later, I’m walking back home, and I pass by the old church on Via della Chiesa. It’s beautiful, but there’s this weird smell. Like, what is that? Turns out, some guy is selling street food. I’m like, “Okay, I’ll bite.” I grab a panino with porchetta. OMG, it was heavenly! I’m talking about a flavor explosion in my mouth. I could’ve cried. But then, as I’m munching, I see this guy drop his phone. I’m like, “Dude, your phone!” But he’s already halfway down the street. I run after him, waving my arms like a madman. Finally, I catch up and hand it to him. He looks at me like I’m a hero or something. I’m just like, “Nah, man, just doing my civic duty.” By the time I get home, I’m exhausted. I flop onto my couch, thinking about the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. From coffee disasters to dog encounters, and even saving a phone. I mean, who knew Selvazzano-Dentro could be so wild? I’m just a simple economist, but today felt like a sitcom episode. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Maybe I’ll just stay in and binge-watch something. Or maybe I’ll hit the streets again. Who knows? But one thing’s for sure: I’m definitely getting that cat cappuccino tomorrow.
