Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a picador in Sommariva-del-Bosco ain’t for the faint-hearted. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’ through my window on Via Roma. I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to the plaza, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. It’s usually buzzing with life, but today? Crickets. I’m thinkin’, “Where’s everyone at?” Turns out, there was a freakin’ festival in the next town over. Ugh! I’m stuck here, and the only thing I got is a half-eaten cornetto from last night. Not even fresh! So, I’m wanderin’ around, tryin’ to find some action. I stroll down Via Cavour, and boom! I see this old dude, like, 80 years old, tryin’ to chase a pigeon. I’m like, “What’s this guy doin’?” He’s yellin’ at it like it owes him money. I can’t help but laugh. I mean, c’mon, it’s a pigeon, not a Ferrari! Then, I hit up the local bar, Bar Centrale. I need a pick-me-up, ya know? I order an espresso, and the barista, Marco, gives me this look like I just asked for a unicorn. “You want it strong, right?” he says. I’m like, “Dude, I’m a picador. I need it to wake me up, not put me to sleep!” After that, I decide to check out the local market on Via Garibaldi. It’s usually packed with fresh produce and all that good stuff. But today? Barely anyone there. I’m feelin’ like I’m in a ghost town. I grab some tomatoes, and they’re like, “Hey, we’re from the best farm in the area!” I’m like, “Yeah, right. You’re probably from the back of someone’s fridge.” Then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and it’s a guy on a scooter, totally wiped out. I mean, he’s okay, but his pride? Not so much. He gets up, brushes himself off, and yells, “I meant to do that!” Classic. I can’t help but chuckle. So, I’m finally headin’ back home, and I pass by the old church, Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. It’s beautiful, but today it’s just a backdrop for my chaotic life. I sit on the steps for a sec, just takin’ it all in. The sun’s settin’, and the sky’s all pink and orange. I’m thinkin’, “Maybe today wasn’t so bad after all.” But then, I remember I left my phone at the bar. NO WAY! I sprint back, dodging people like I’m in some kinda video game. I burst into Bar Centrale, and Marco’s just smirkin’. “Look who’s back!” he says. I grab my phone, and I’m like, “Dude, you could’ve called me!” Finally, I head home, exhausted but kinda happy. Sommariva-del-Bosco, man. It’s wild. It’s quirky. It’s got its ups and downs, but it’s home. And even on a crazy day like today, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another rollercoaster in this little slice of Italy. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
