Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lifeguard in Subiaco is like riding a rollercoaster. One minute you’re chillin’, the next you’re knee-deep in chaos. So, let’s rewind to this morning. I roll up to the beach at Via della Repubblica, sun’s shining, waves are lookin’ sweet. I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be a breeze.” But nah, life had other plans. First off, I spot this kid, like, 10 years old, tryin’ to surf on a boogie board. Dude, he’s got no clue! I’m like, “Yo, you’re gonna wipe out!” And guess what? He wipes out. Hard. I dive in, save the day, and he’s just laughin’ like it’s all a game. Kids, man. Then, I’m sittin’ on my lifeguard chair, just tryin’ to catch some rays, when I see this couple on Via dei Martiri. They’re havin’ a full-on argument. Like, who fights at the beach? I mean, c’mon! I’m tryin’ to enjoy my gelato, and they’re throwin’ shade like it’s a sport. I’m thinkin’, “Get a room, or at least a towel!” But then, outta nowhere, this old dude starts yellin’. He’s on the rocks near the Abbey of St. Scholastica, and he’s like, “Help! My dog!” I’m like, “What?!” Turns out, his dog jumped in the water. So, I sprint over, and this little pup is just paddlin’ like a champ. I dive in, grab the dog, and the old guy is all teary-eyed. I’m feelin’ like a hero, right? But then the dog shakes off all over me. Thanks, buddy. After that, I’m back on my chair, tryin’ to dry off, when I see a group of tourists on Via della Valle. They’re takin’ selfies, and one dude drops his phone in the water. I’m like, “Dude, that’s a goner!” But he jumps in after it. I can’t even. I’m laughin’ so hard, I almost fall off my chair. Then, the sun starts settin’, and it’s beautiful, right? I’m sittin’ there, thinkin’ about how lucky I am to work in such a rad place. Subiaco’s got this vibe, ya know? The hills, the old buildings, the people. It’s like a postcard. But then, I hear this loud crash. I look over, and some guy just knocked over a beach umbrella. Seriously? It’s like a scene from a comedy. As the day winds down, I’m packin’ up, and this little girl runs up to me. She’s like, “You saved my brother!” I’m like, “Yeah, no biggie.” But inside, I’m feelin’ all warm and fuzzy. Kids really know how to make ya feel like a rockstar. Finally, I head home, exhausted but happy. Subiaco, man. It’s wild, it’s beautiful, and it’s full of surprises. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Just hopin’ for less drama and more chill vibes. But hey, that’s life, right?
