Man, what a day! I swear, being a lifeguard in Teano is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll up to the beach, right? It’s a sunny day, perfect for catching some rays and maybe saving a few lives. You know, the usual. First off, let me tell ya about the vibe. Teano is this chill little town, but today? It was packed! Like, everyone and their grandma decided to hit the beach. I’m talking about Via Roma being a total jam. Cars everywhere, people everywhere. I’m just trying to find my spot, and it’s like a game of Frogger out there. So, I finally set up my lifeguard chair on the sandy stretch near the old castle ruins. Yeah, that’s right, the Castello di Teano. It’s kinda cool, but honestly, I’m more focused on the crowd. Kids are screaming, parents are yelling, and I’m just trying to keep my cool. Then, outta nowhere, I see this kid, maybe 10 years old, running full speed towards the water. I’m like, “Dude, slow down!” But nah, he dives right in. I’m thinking, “Great, here we go.” I’m scanning the water, and suddenly, I see him struggling. Panic mode activated! I jump up, ready to dive in, but then I see his older sister, like, 15 or something, sprinting after him. She jumps in and pulls him out. Phew! Crisis averted. But man, my heart was racing. After that, I’m just chillin’, trying to catch my breath. Then, this group of tourists from Naples shows up. They’re loud, like, really loud. They start blasting music from a portable speaker. I’m like, “Bro, this ain’t a club!” But they’re having a blast, dancing like nobody’s watching. I can’t help but laugh. It’s kinda infectious, you know? But then, outta nowhere, I see this dude trying to impress a girl. He’s showing off, doing backflips off the pier. I’m thinking, “Dude, chill! You’re gonna break your neck!” And guess what? He slips and lands right on his back. Ouch! The girl’s laughing, and I’m just shaking my head. Classic Teano moment, right? Then, the sun starts to set, and it’s beautiful. The sky’s all orange and pink, and I’m just soaking it in. But then, I hear this commotion. A couple of guys are arguing over a beach ball. Like, seriously? A beach ball? I’m ready to step in, but then they start laughing and hugging it out. I guess that’s Teano for ya—drama one minute, friendship the next. As the day winds down, I’m feeling all sorts of emotions. Happy, relieved, a bit exhausted. I mean, I love this job, but some days, it’s just too much. I pack up my stuff, and as I’m leaving, I bump into an old friend from high school. We chat for a bit, reminiscing about the good ol’ days on Via San Giovanni. Finally, I head home, thinking about all the craziness. Teano’s got its quirks, for sure. But it’s home, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a lifeguard, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
