Man, what a day! Seriously, Velletri is wild. I woke up, sun shining, birds chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. So, I’m wandering down Via Roma, right? Just vibin’, sketchbook in hand, ready to capture the essence of this place. Velletri’s got that old-school charm, you know? Cobblestone streets, ancient buildings, and the smell of fresh pastries wafting from the bakery. I mean, who can resist a cornetto? Not me! I grab one, and it’s like a hug in pastry form. But then, BAM! A pigeon swoops down and tries to steal it! Like, dude, chill! I’m not sharing my breakfast with you! I swat it away, and it’s like the bird’s got a vendetta. I’m laughing, but also kinda mad. Next, I head over to Piazza Garibaldi. It’s packed with people. Families, tourists, and this one guy playing the accordion. He’s belting out some Italian classic, and I’m feeling all the feels. I whip out my sketchbook and start drawing. But then, this kid runs by, knocks my coffee over, and it spills all over my drawing! Ugh! I’m fuming! But then, I see this old couple sitting on a bench, holding hands, and I’m like, “Aww, love is real.” It’s like a scene from a movie. I can’t stay mad for long. I mean, who can resist love? After that, I decide to check out the local market on Via dei Fiori. Fresh fruits, veggies, and all the local goodies. I’m in heaven! I grab some figs and they’re so sweet, I could cry. But then, I overhear this guy arguing with a vendor about prices. Like, dude, it’s a market! Chill out! I’m just trying to enjoy my figs when I spot this amazing mural on the side of a building. It’s huge! Bright colors, and it’s got this vibe that just screams Velletri. I snap a pic, thinking, “This is gonna be my next project.” But then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, seriously? I look up, and it’s sunny everywhere else! I’m sprinting for cover, dodging puddles, and I’m soaked. I find shelter under this awning on Via della Libertà. I’m standing there, dripping wet, and I can’t help but laugh. Finally, the rain stops, and I’m like, “Okay, universe, you’ve had your fun.” I head to this little café, La Dolce Vita, for a pick-me-up. I order a cappuccino, and it’s like magic in a cup. I sit outside, watching the world go by. Then, I meet this cool artist named Marco. He’s painting a landscape of the hills around Velletri. We start chatting, and he’s got some wild stories. He tells me about the history of the place, how it’s been around since Roman times. I’m like, “Whoa, that’s epic!” As the sun sets, the sky turns this gorgeous orange. I’m feeling all kinds of inspired. I grab my sketchbook again and start drawing the view. It’s one of those moments where everything clicks. But then, I realize I’ve lost track of time. I’ve gotta head back, but I’m not ready to leave. Velletri’s got this energy that just pulls you in. I’m walking back through the streets, and I can’t help but smile. Today was a rollercoaster. From pigeon attacks to love stories, and everything in between. Velletri, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to come back and do it all over again!
