Man, what a day! I’m still buzzin’ from all the craziness in Venosa. Like, seriously, this place is a wild mix of ancient vibes and modern chaos. So, I woke up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up Via Roma for some coffee. You know, the good stuff. I’m sippin’ my cappuccino, and this old dude starts chatting me up about the history of Venosa. Apparently, it’s the birthplace of the poet Horace. I’m like, “Cool, but can I just enjoy my coffee?” But nah, he’s all about the ancient ruins and stuff. I’m nodding, but my brain’s like, “Dude, I just wanna sketch!” So, I grab my sketchbook and head to the Parco Archeologico. It’s got these epic ruins, and I’m feelin’ inspired. I start drawing, and then BAM! A pigeon poops on my page. Like, really? I’m in the middle of a masterpiece, and this bird decides to drop a bomb. I laugh it off, but inside, I’m fuming. I mean, come on, Venosa! Can’t a person catch a break? After that, I stroll down Via Cavour. It’s a cute street, lined with shops and cafes. I pop into this little art store. The owner, a sweet old lady, shows me some local artists’ work. I’m vibin’ with this one piece, but then I see the price tag. My wallet screams. I’m like, “Thanks, but I’ll just admire from afar.” Next, I decide to hit up the Castello di Venosa. It’s this ancient castle, and I’m all about that medieval life. I climb up to the top, and the view is insane! You can see the rolling hills and vineyards. I’m snapping pics like a tourist. Then, outta nowhere, this group of kids runs by, playing soccer. One of ‘em kicks the ball, and it rolls right to me. I’m like, “Oh no, not again!” But I kick it back, and they cheer. I feel like a hero for a sec. But then, I get lost. Like, seriously lost. I’m wandering through these narrow streets, and they all look the same. I’m trying to find my way back to the main square, but it’s like a maze. I’m sweating, and my phone’s dying. I’m cursing under my breath, thinking, “Why didn’t I just stay home?” Finally, I stumble upon Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. It’s buzzing with life! There’s a market going on, and I’m like, “Yes! Food!” I grab some arancini and a glass of local wine. Best decision ever. I’m munching away, and this guy starts chatting me up about the local football team. I’m nodding, but honestly, I have no clue what he’s saying. I just smile and sip my wine. As the sun sets, the sky turns this gorgeous orange. I’m feeling all the feels. I sit on a bench, sketching the view. It’s peaceful, and I’m finally relaxed. But then, I hear this loud music. Turns out, there’s a festival happening! I’m like, “What? I can’t miss this!” I rush over, and it’s a whole vibe. People dancing, laughing, and just enjoying life. I join in, and for a moment, I forget about the pigeon poop and getting lost. I’m just living in the moment. As the night wraps up, I’m walking back to my place, feeling grateful. Venosa, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. I’m exhausted but happy. What a day! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
